Davis County is full of hoopers. In this first installment we focus on 5 of them. Each one of these players has the opportunity to play at the next level. Some have some time to continue to develop and some are prime to leave their mark and move on immediately.

[player_tooltip player_id="934472" first="Collin" last="Chandler"] (Farmington)

[player_tooltip player_id="934472" first="Collin" last="Chandler"] is a unique prospect as he has some raw skill. He excels in an open system that gives him freedom to just play. He has a good looking shot from the outside. He has a good first step that can get by defenders and he still has time to work on different finishing moves near the basket. Defensively he can really make a jump next season as he could increase his output with some easy buckets off of steals and deflections. Collin has good length to run 1-3 depending on the personnel on the floor. Collin has some bounce in his game and as he continues to mature and commit to the weight room he could make a eye opening jump from last year to the next. There is no ceiling to the growth that Collin can achieve. At 6’3 Collin can really turn heads and increase his stock.

[player_tooltip player_id="934473" first="Rex" last="Sunderland"] (Davis)

When you have to wait your turn in one of the best programs in the state sometimes it is not always so bad. Rex is a player that could’ve started at many programs across the state with his size, athletic ability and multiple ways to score. While sitting behind 9 seniors this past season Rex is a player that will need and will make an impact at Davis High School. Rex averaged 7 points a game on stacked team and he almost pulled down 3 rebounds a game as well. Rex can stretch the floor especially in an open system like the one the run at Davis. He hit 32 three’s this past season. Look for Rex to be the next name you hear a lot coming out of Davis County. Rex has a strong frame and looks for different ways to score. He is not the player that is just going to sit out at three-point line and wait for things to happen. Rex has an assertive game. His stats could really make a huge jump next season.

[player_tooltip player_id="755611" first="Robert" last="Whaley"] (Bountiful)

If you don’t know who Robert "Boi Boi" Whaley by now you have been living under a rock. One of the most impressive athletes in the state. He has a big strong frame that rivals most bigs in the state that have a height advantage over him. At around 6’5 and a lot of mass Boi Boi can really move defenders. He shows flashes of brilliance with his left handed game. He is tough to stop on the block when he gets deep on the block. Most left-handers are often times difficult to guard and that is what you get from Boi Boi as well. He put up some great numbers last season and look for more of that this up-coming season as well.

[player_tooltip player_id="755612" first="Ethan" last="Potter"] (Layton)

Ethan is one of those players that just has that game that translates to the next level. He is really good near the basket. He has good touch with both hands. One of the most underrated aspects of his game is how he can get up and down the floor. Ethan has the ability to really impact the game on both ends of the court because he defends. Ethan is a Division 1 prospect that is starting to garner attention locally. It hard to say that someone can improve from a 22 points a game and 9 rebound type of season but Ethan has that work ethic were he can make it happen.

[player_tooltip player_id="755641" first="Brash" last="Emery"] (Viewmont)

Brash is one of those little guards that can just go. At 5’8 he can really hang with anyone. He had 47 three-pointers last season. Brash can really impact the game and it is apparent with the way he stuffs the stat sheet. He rebounds exceptionally well for a player of his stature. He gets others involved and defends on the ball well. He can also step out and shoot the long ball. He was able to hit 47 three=pointers this past season. Brash is a player that could go off against anyone. This up-coming year could be a really good year for him.
