The City Rankings has reached the positional breakdown portion of things. Here, we take a look at the Top 10 guards in the Raleigh-Durham area’s 2021 class.

#1 [player_tooltip player_id="574402" first="Carter" last="Whitt"] | 6-2 G | Leesville Road

Whitt remains the top guard in the area, though his competition lurks. His ability to score at-will and make plays for teammates are what stand out the most in his game. He’s a guard that will make you pay with and without the ball in his hands with offers from multiple high major programs.

#2 [player_tooltip player_id="838016" first="Bobby" last="Pettiford"] Jr. | 6-0 PG | South Granville

Pettiford is a guard that’s slowly climbing up the ranks in the Raleigh-Durham area. He recently earned offer from Louisville after putting together an impressive season with the South Granville Vikings which included a victory over [player_tooltip player_id="574402" first="Carter" last="Whitt"] and Leesville Road. Don’t be surprised if another strong year catapults him to the top spot.

#3 [player_tooltip player_id="533518" first="Elijah" last="Jamison"] | 6-3 G | Louisburg

Jamison has slowly put the Louisburg Warriors on the map with his hardworking pedigree and knack for leading his team to victory. He produced 29.7 ppg, 12.3 rpg, 3.8 apg and 2.0 spg and with some help coming in the 2023 class, he’s due to lead them on a deep run in the state playoffs in 2020-21.

#4 [player_tooltip player_id="574431" first="Lucas" last="Taylor"] | 6-6 G | Heritage

Taylor has seen his name blossom in the college recruiting landscape over the past few months after producing 21.6 ppg, 5.2 rpg, 2.3 apg and 1.6 spg in 2019-20 for the Huskies. He’s a 6-foot-4 prospect that can play multiple spots on the floor with his length and agility. He holds offer from a few high-major programs after showing off his development.

#5 [player_tooltip player_id="574412" first="Terence" last="Harcum"] Jr. | 6-1 G | Granville Central

Harcum is an underrated guard that’s due for a huge bump in recruiting soon. He’s a combo guard at 6-foot-1 that can put together triple-doubles with ease when he’s locked in. He put together three during the 2019-20 season along with 15 double-doubles. He holds offers already from Elon and Winthrop.

#6 [player_tooltip player_id="574432" first="Daylen" last="Berry"] | 6-4 SG | Panther Creek

Berry is listed as a shooting guard, but he’s a lot more than that, especially on the defensive end. He’s a 6-foot-4 guard that can fly around on defense and block shots and create turnovers just as well as he is an efficient 3-point shooter. He’s due to lead Panther Creek in 2020-21.

#7 [player_tooltip player_id="574437" first="Stefon" last="McLeod"] | 6’3 G/F | GRACE Christian

McLeod arrived as a late addition to GRACE Christian but after getting acclimated to his new surroundings he showed poise as a defender and scoring guard. He’s a 6-foot-3 guard that can play multiple spots on the floor. He’ll be a breakout player to watch in the area.

#8 [player_tooltip player_id="574445" first="Tharius" last="Suggs"] | 6’1 G | Middle Creek

Suggs led the way for Middle Creek in the scoring and passing department this past season with 17.9 points and 5.0 assists per game but he does much more than score and pass with his quickness and awareness at the guard spot. Suggs and [player_tooltip player_id="838046" first="Sam" last="Perez"] have formed quite a duo on the wing for Middle Creek.

#9 [player_tooltip player_id="838063" first="Jamari" last="Mann"] | 6’3 G | Granville Central

Mann scorched the nets from 3-point range once again in 2019-20, making 71 3-pointers on the year to the tune of 20.9 points per game. He was a lot more aggressive driving to the rim as well and as his decision-making improves, so should his stock on the recruiting front.

#10 [player_tooltip player_id="838068" first="Chase" last="Hakerem"] | 5’8 PG | Leesville Road

Hakerem stepped up big for Leesville Road in the absence of [player_tooltip player_id="838017" first="Jalen" last="McDonald"] for the first half of the season. He’s a scrappy guard that gets after it on defense, taking charges and making things uncomfortable for his opponent. He’ll be one to watch alongside [player_tooltip player_id="574402" first="Carter" last="Whitt"] in 2020-21.
