The City Rankings series continues with the debut of the Top 10 guard rankings. Here’s a look at the Top 10 guards in the Greensboro area’s 2021 class.

#1 [player_tooltip player_id="838021" first="Jamarii" last="Thomas"] | 6’0 PG | Piedmont Classical

Thomas is an electric guard that can put on a show on both ends. He really locks in on defense and sets the tone on the offensive end with his play. He’ll be a senior to watch to go out with a bang in his senior season.

#2 [player_tooltip player_id="838054" first="T.J." last="Mills"] | 6’2 G | Winston-Salem Prep

Mills was a member of the co-2A State Champions in Winston-Salem Prep. He can fill it up in a hurry as evidenced by his 17.5 ppg scoring average but can also rebound and dish the ball out, making him a lethal combo guard. He’ll return in 2020-21 looking to be a hot name in the area once again.

#3 [player_tooltip player_id="574478" first="Jamarien" last="Dalton"] | 6’2 G | North Davidson

Dalton is an explosive guard that can fill it up on all three levels. He put up 23.0 ppg as a junior while surpassing the 1,000-point mark and has a chance to leave as the program’s leading scorer. He’ll be a breakout name to watch in the Greensboro area in 2020-21 alongside [player_tooltip player_id="984856" first="Tedric" last="Jenkins"].

#4 [player_tooltip player_id="574443" first="Camian" last="Shell"] | 5’10 G | Parkland

Shell had a stellar senior campaign for Parkland, taking over in a ton of games including a season-high 36 points against Dudley High back in January. He’s a lightning quick guard that knows how to fill up the stat sheet, especially on the scoring front. He’ll get some attention soon from college coaches in the Greensboro area.

#5 [player_tooltip player_id="574435" first="Jaden" last="Ellis"] | 5’11 G | Page

Ellis is an athletic combo guard listed at just 5-foot-11 but plays much bigger. He looks to make plays every time the ball touches his hand and is a tough opponent to stop when he’s driving to the rim. He’ll be a name from the Greensboro area with room to grow in 2020-21.

#6 [player_tooltip player_id="574459" first="Kadyn" last="Dawkins"] | 5’9 PG | Eastern Guilford

Dawkins is a floor general listed at just 5-foot-9 but it doesn’t slow him down much. He’s a competitor on both ends that can stroke it from anywhere on the floor. His high IQ off the dribble makes him a matchup problem for a ton of opponents. He’s a breakout star in the making in the Greensboro area.

#7 [player_tooltip player_id="574410" first="Brock" last="Williams"] | 6’0 G | Greensboro Day School

Williams made the move to Greensboro Day School in 2019-20 and played a big role as a reserve when [player_tooltip player_id="533509" first="Carson" last="McCorkle"] went down with injury. He adjusted to his role well by season’s end and now should transition into the starting rotation very well. High Point and Elon have both offered.

#8 [player_tooltip player_id="932456" first="Omari" last="Bolden"] | 6’2 G | Parkland

Bolden is another prospect in the Parkland backcourt to keep an eye on. He produced 18.2 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 1.9 apg and 1.6 spg in 2019-20 while making 56 3-pointers from behind the arc. He’s a sharpshooter at the guard spot that’s due to see his stock rise a bit in the Greensboro area.

#9 [player_tooltip player_id="932060" first="Owen" last="Gulledge"] | 6’4 SG | Calvary Day School

Gulledge is a lengthy sharpshooter at 6-foot-4 that can make opponents pay from the perimeter, but he isn’t afraid to put it on the floor and get to the rim. He’s got nice athleticism that allows him to rebound and bang down low. He’s a name to know in the area at Calvary Day School.

#10 [player_tooltip player_id="984849" first="Arrington" last="Jones"] | 6’2 G | Winston-Salem Christian

Jones will be a name to watch at Winston-Salem Christian in the backcourt after their addition of head coach Antonio Lowe. He produced 12.4 ppg, 5.2 rpg, 3.2 spg and 2.5 apg in 2019-20 for the old regime, showing off his prowess on the boards and defensive end along with his scoring. He’s a prospect due for a big boost in 2020-21 in the area.
