In this Cincinnati series, we will be talking top prospects in the area. Today we are discussing our top picks for First Team while sticking to a traditional starting lineup. These aren’t necessarily the best 5 players since positions affect the list. We will be diving into a Second Team next.

2020 First Team

G: [player_tooltip player_id="588895" first="Max" last="Land"] - Moeller (St. Francis Commit)

Max is a smooth guard with great composure. His ability to finish near the rim on a drive is a major reason he will be playing Division 1 basketball at the next level. Max was a senior leader at Moeller who were considered to be favorites to win State along with St. Edward.

G: [player_tooltip player_id="917423" first="Mark" last="Wise"] - Deer Park (Uncommitted)

Mark is a guard with good size at 6’4". He is unselfish and knows how to get his teammates involved. Just like Max, he is a smooth operator on the floor. Currently, he is unsigned and has had D-1 offers and interest.

F: [player_tooltip player_id="535190" first="Trey" last="Robinson"] - Hamilton (Northern Kentucky)

Trey is a scorer. He is the type of player that can get into a rhythm where he will hit everything that leaves his hand, regardless of how tight you are guarding him. He also has a solid set of handles and finishing ability on the drive.

F: [player_tooltip player_id="800836" first="Nekhi" last="Smith"] - Taft (Lincoln Memorial)

[player_tooltip player_id="800836" first="Nekhi" last="Smith"] is a solid mid-range scorer. He has an elite turn around jumper and nice left-handed release defenders struggle to defend. While his mid-range is strong, don’t sleep on the fact he can hit shots from range and post up inside with his strong frame.

C: [player_tooltip player_id="588891" first="Jackson" last="Ames"] - West Clermont (Miami OH)

Jackson is an inside presence, to say the least. He averaged nearly a double-double every game this year and showed signs of improvement in the post. He is committed to playing at Miami, and it will be interesting to see how college teammates will be able to get him involved. Being the focus of his high school team, I often felt he lacked quality touches due to quick double and triple teams. With some other playmakers around him, I think he will excel at the next level.
