A Closer Look: NCCA All-Star Guards

<p><i>Announcements have dropped for the NCCA East vs West All-Star game and the fields are loaded! Over the next few days we will take a closer look at some of the players that were selected, let’s begin with the Guards on the East side</i>.</p> <p><b>First Flight HS [player_tooltip player_id="572979" first="Dylan" last="Blake"]:(Senior Season Stats</b>: (28.7 Points, 8.0 Rebounds, 3.0 Assist) The future ECU Pirate had a tremendous high school career helping his high school gain more attention across the state. Hands down he’s one of the best shooters in the state but also has a nice IQ for the game. Time and time again this year he made the play that would put his team in the best position for success.</p> <p><b>Farmville Central [player_tooltip player_id="833082" first="Justin" last="Wright"]: (Senior Season Stats</b>: 24 Points, 5 Assist, 7 Rebounds) We first got to see him as a freshman and he’s gotten better each season, with his career finishing up with back to back state championships. One of the best players that does his damage under the rim, he’s shown that you don’t have to be a “high flyer” to get the job done. Plain and simple, he is a player that knows how to get it done on both ends of the court and he loves to compete.</p> <p><b>Pender [player_tooltip player_id="533411" first="Jajuan" last="Carr"]: (Senior Season Stats</b>: 22.5 Points, 5.3 Rebounds, 1.9 Steals) He’s the type of player that you would call a downhill guard. Once he’s coming at you with a bit of speed he’s very difficult to defend and his natural scoring ability is something you notice early and often. Although he carried a nice amount of the scoring load this year, he took on more of a leadership role for the team which should only help his transition to the next level at UNCW.</p> <p><b>Farmville Central [player_tooltip player_id="833306" first="Samage" last="Teel"]</b>: WSSU fans should be excited about what they have coming in as he’s shown that he can compete with some of the best guards around. Initially he seemed to try and find where he fit in on the Farmville squad but this season he seemed to be aggressive from the beginning of the year which made Farmville an even tougher team to stop. </p> <p><b>West Brunswick [player_tooltip player_id="833120" first="Jadyn" last="Parker"] (Senior Season Stats</b>: 21.5 Points, 14.3 Rebounds, 5.3 Blocks): Probably the tallest Guard in the state, he went from having a solid season as a Junior to a tremendous Senior year. Although they didn’t go as far as he would have liked to end the season, you gotta be impressed with how far he has come and what he can potentially be.</p>
