With the possibility of losing the entire AAU season this year, I will mention all 104 sophs ranked.

I like to take a look at my annual “Top-5’s”.

Every player has their 1 skill they usually excel at.

It’s just a fun way to take a look at players’ elite skills in different categories.

We move over to the 14 players who are top-notch glass eaters. These are the players that will give a team only one possession every time down the court with getting essentially every rebound. Some of the BEST rebounders I viewed all year were actually in this group. The top-5 could compete with anyone in state.

Here are my Top-5:

1. [player_tooltip player_id="703808" first="Duke" last="Brennan"] (undecided)

-Moving to the 2022 class from the ’21 class and keeps the top spot on the glass. Great size, girth and strength with a huge motor.

2. [player_tooltip player_id="826998" first="Elijah" last="Saunders"] (Sunnyslope)

-A thicker forward with quick bounce to explode up to snatch the ball at its highest point.

3. [player_tooltip player_id="934598" first="Jaylen" last="Wesley"] (McClintock)

-A thick and strong beast with an elite motor. If you don’t box him out, the ball is his.

4. [player_tooltip player_id="936760" first="Malik" last="Charles"] (Heritage Maricopa)

-The son of a former NFL player is a really long and extremely strong post player who is built like a football lineman. He grabs rebounds in bunches with his big-time motor.

5. [player_tooltip player_id="827003" first="Micah" last="Pierce"] (Mountain Pointe)

-A bouncy forward with a nose for the ball. He didn't get the big playing time on a deep roster but should get more PT next season.

Next-5:

1. [player_tooltip player_id="706698" first="Reed" last="Shuey"] (Gilbert)

-A thick under the rim strong power forward has a great will to grab rebounds.

2. [player_tooltip player_id="934597" first="Ashton" last="Earl"] (ALA-QC)

-A little known post player has the size, girth and wider shoulders to board at a high level.

3. [player_tooltip player_id="827021" first="Carson" last="Ledbetter"] (Casteel) (Pictured)

-A skilled lefty is very tough on the glass as well. Look for him to lead the Colts next season.

4. [player_tooltip player_id="701260" first="Logan" last="Pohl"] (Paradise Honors)

-The second tallest soph in the state from the AIA has improved greatly and should control the paint next season.

5. [player_tooltip player_id="827022" first="Ryan" last="Vischer"] (Paradise Valley)

-Another one of the taller players in the state is also improving, He is light on his toes and grabs rebounds at good rate.

4-more:

1. [player_tooltip player_id="827001" first="Will" last="Coates"] (Phhoenix Prep)

-A skilled forward is a better rebounder than he gets credited with as he has good length and size.

2. [player_tooltip player_id="827014" first="Jo" last="Jo Montgomery"] (Deer Valley)

-A strong undersized forward can shoot but crashes the boards well.

3. [player_tooltip player_id="827023" first="Tobi" last="Balogun"] (Agua Fria)

-Another undersized forward with a nose for the ball.

4. [player_tooltip player_id="827028" first="Kyiree" last="Bell"] (Central)

-An active forward with a good motor fights hard inside to corral the rebound.
