Reason for the Ranking (Top 10)

Time to revisit the Class of 2020 rankings and adjust to account for the player’s growth and stagnation. Rankings are subjective. Why did we rank these guys? Why are they at this spot? Take a look at several Class of 2020 prospects and learn a little about their reputation.

#6 Will Pruitt Will Pruitt 6'1" | PG Mt. Juliet | 2020 State TN (Mt. Juliet)
Winner of 100+ career games. Member of the Mt. Juliet’s State Tournament qualifiers in both 2018 and 2020. Pruitt makes winning plays his tradition. He passes better than anybody in middle Tennessee and significantly improved both his outside shot and his defense in the last 12 months.
#7 Johnathan DeJurnett Johnathan DeJurnett 6'7" | PF Lausanne Collegiate | 2020 State TN (Lausanne Collegiate)
DeJurnett signed to IPFW after decommitting from University of Evansville following their coaching change. DeJurnett’s best basketball is still ahead of him in the eyes of Lausanne Head Basketball Coach Marvis Davis. He really worked to improved DeJurnett’s confidence and footwork the last few years. JD brings a sense of stability to the frontline but did have stretches his junior season when he just vanished. The mental toughness continues to get sharper for this strong lefty.

Perhaps the most controversial inclusion in the top 10, Tyrone Marshall Tyrone Marshall 6'5" | SG Pearl Cohn | 2020 State TN is somewhat unheralded outside of the 615. His capacity for greatness rests on three things: athleticism, size, skills. Standing 6-foot-6, Marshall can play the wing or as a forward. His potential is extremely high because he is so skilled with the basketball in his hands. He can score on the low blocks or create from halfcourt. Marshall is not adept enough to be the primary ball-handler, but he is slick enough to help press break, create off the dribble in the halfcourt, etc. His ceiling is staggeringly high for this reason along with his bounce and speed. Marshall helped Pearl-Cohn advance to the Class AA State Tournament for the second consecutive season. The Firebirds were also ranked in the PrepHoopsTN Top 5 all year long.
#9 Tyrus Baynham Jr. Tyrus Baynham Jr. 6'4" | SF Tennessee Prep | 2020 State TN (Tennessee Prep)
Stop-and-go quickness that lulls defenders to sleep. Look for Jackson to run through defenses more than at them. Gets up on the glass with ease. Good upper body strength.
#10 Duane Posey Duane Posey 6'6" | PF Memphis East | 2020 State TN (Memphis East)
Posey transferred to Memphis East for his senior season and played spectacularly. Posey’s potential is very high for several reasons. Posey is a gritty player who also showcases wonderful athleticism. While he might be an inch or two shorter than the ideal D1 4-man, Posey makes up for it with energy and mental toughness. He is a great rebounder now and will continue to be a great rebounder for the remainder of his basketball career. Posey does not need touches to have a big impact and players like him are always enjoyed by coaches. Not a big ego guy.
