Here is a group of 2021s that I was really looking forward to tracking during the grassroots season.
Karter Koenig Karter Koenig 6'6" | PF Westran | 2021 State MO 6’7″ Normandy: A very explosive combo forward who is just starting to come into his own as a player. He has the size, athletic ability and good ball handling skills, where he’s capable of grabbing a rebound and going coast to coast for a dunk. He is very comfortable on the perimeter with the ball in his hands. His upside is big as his game is just starting to blossom. He even picked up an early offer from Division I Louisiana-Monroe. He averaged 17 points and nine rebounds a game as a junior.
Tavion Banks 6’5″ Ruskin: An impressive athlete who emerged as one of the best 2021s in the Kansas City area after leading his team to a 21-victory season. He is explosive around the basket as a scorer and rebounder, plus he will get out in transition and throw down impressive dunks on the break. He averaged 16 points, 10 rebounds, two steals and two blocks a game as a junior.
Trevon Brazile 6’7″ Parkview: A long and lanky small forward who has a chance to blossom into one of the top prospects in the class. His height and length are assets on the defensive end with his ability to block shots and guard multiple positions. He is a solid 3-point shooter who can also attack the basket off the dribble. He is a big matchup problem with his versatile skill set. He picked up an offer from Montana State last summer.
Colin Parker 6’7″ Montgomery County: A small-school combo forward who just led his team to a 24-4 season and a conference championship. His versatility is what stands out as he can go inside and score or operate on the high post. He is just as effective on the perimeter with his 3-point shooting and ball handling ability. He has also gotten bigger and stronger over the course of a year.
Najee Williams Najee Williams 6'3" | SG Truman | 2021 State MO 6’5″ Cape Notre Dame: The talented post player was the lone junior on a senior-dominated team that advanced to the Final Four of the Class 4 state tournament. He also played up a level at 17U during the summer of 2019. He is a very capable scorer around the basket with both hands, but he also excels on the defensive end where he was one of the top shot blockers in the SEMO region. He will get an opportunity to expand his game as he becomes the primary scoring option.
