Best Unsigned Seniors (Part 1)

<p>There are a ton of talented players still left on the market around the country. In Florida, 2020 prospects are dealing with the issues that COVID-19 has brought to recruiting in terms of visits, commitments and more.</p> <p>With that being said, the Sunshine State still has a lot of players being looked at by colleges and many of these kids are going to find homes sooner rather than later.</p> <p>Here is a breakdown of some of the top prospects who should earn scholarships here in the downtime.</p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="716867" first="Jalen" last="Haynes"] is a big man with a ton of reliable stretch play. At 6’8", he’s always active and his length hurts defenses near the cup. He is a core shot blocker and his ballhandling ability and mid-range touch are both better than most high school centers. Haynes averaged 18.4 PPG and 9.4 RPG as a senior, shooting 60 percent from the field. St. Bonaventure, Providence, UCF and FAU have all offered and stay in close contact with him. He is a leader and a very mature athlete who can come in and play heavy minutes from the jump.</p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="827896" first="Roger" last="McFarlane"] took over the University School backcourt with 2020 FSU signee [player_tooltip player_id="827873" first="Scottie" last="Barnes"] at Montverde and 2019 grad Vernon Carey Jr. at Duke. McFarlane, a 6’4" strong lead guard was superb in that role averaging 16.1 PPG and 6.4 RPG. He had games of 37 points against Lake Highland Prep and 33 points against Ft. Lauderdale Calvary Christian. McFarlane thrives as a heads up driver to the hoop and his variety of lay-ins help him excel. Appalachian State, Howard and New Orleans have offered while Niagara and UT Martin have expressed interest. He’s a winner.</p> <p><a href="https://prephoops.com/player/aj-staton-mccray/"><strong>AJ Staton</strong></a> made the move from Blanche Ely to West Oaks for his senior season and he quickly became a top piece for the Flame. The 6’5" guard is good with the ball in his hands, quick from side to side and a talented spot-up shooter. Staton’s push in transition always helps bring energy to his team and he was able to finish inside often this year. Southern Illinois, Buffalo, St. Bonaventure and Appalachian State have all offered while Iowa State has shown interest. Staton is still oozing with upside and will make any Divison I program look wise by bringing him on board. </p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="827909" first="Ricardo" last="Wright"] was the No. 1 option for The Villages after transferring over from Eustis. The 6’5" guard averaged 21.1 PPG and 5.7 RPG as a senior putting together performances of 40 points against Seffner Christian, 39 points against Ft. Lauderdale Calvary Christian and 37 points against Wildwood. UNF, FGCU and Stetson have all offered while Lipscomb, Northern Kentucky, Jacksonville and Towson are interested. Anyone looking for a versatile and athletic scoring guard, then look no further than Wright.</p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="827924" first="Mayoum" last="Mayoum"] is all about explosiveness. The 6’4" Potter’s House Christian guard is super quick with the ball in his hands and makes defenses pay with his straight line speed. Loyola Marymount represents his most recent offer while Boise State and St. John’s have offered prior. Dayton, Georgia State and East Tennessee State have all flashed interest.
