NorCal has been known to produce it’s fair share of quality guards and point guards. Here’s a group of players from the class 2021 more than capable handling either guard spot in this class. These players have a good shot at playing ball at the next level DI, DII, DIII.

[player_tooltip player_id="706266" first="Isa" last="Silva"] 6’3 Jesuit, (Carmichael CA), and [player_tooltip player_id="706270" first="Mike" last="Mitchell"] 6’3 Archbishop Mitty (San Jose CA) Mitchell has committed to Pepperdine. They are considered to be the top guards in NorCal and are Nationally Ranked, but it doesn’t stop there in this class. Here’s six more.

[player_tooltip player_id="706320" first="Corey" last="Yerger"] 6’1 Grant (Sacramento CA)

It would be hard to not take a good look at Yerger. He has blossomed into one of the top guards in NorCal. He averaged 20 ppg, 5 rebs, 4 asts and almost 3 steals a game this season. He poses all the necessary guard skills to succeed as a DI guard. He has been competing against quality competition for a while. He’s become a more patient and disciplined player on both ends.

[player_tooltip player_id="706327" first="Geronimo" last="Rubio De La Rosa"] 6’1, Brookside Christian (Stockton CA)

De La Rosa has been competing at a high level. He’s a steady guard that can get a bucket when called upon. He’s content being the primary ball handler that gets teammates involved, yet he can produce points in different ways. He has excellent body control and a good first step, His mid-range game is solid, and he hits 3’s. He lead his team in scoring, 22.7 ppg, asts 3.7, stls 3.1. and proved to be a good rebounding guard with 6.7 rebs a game.

[player_tooltip player_id="775755" first="Donjae" last="Lindsey"] 6’1 Weston Ranch (Stockton CA)

In past seasons Lindsey seemed to be content being the best defender on the floor, his quick hands and speed allowed him to generate points on steals and layups. The offensive side of his game exploded this season. He averaged 17 ppg, 4 rebs. He ended the season being the leading scorer on his team and was instrumental in The Ranch getting to the state finals DII. Consistency will be key for him. His point guard skills can use some polishing.

[player_tooltip player_id="775794" first="Caden" last="Flowers"] 6’0, Capital Christian (Sacramento CA)

When you talk about a floor general, Flower’s comes to mind. He leads by example, he plays with energy and confidence. The pass first point guard has total command of the offense. He’s a good communicator on the court. He has become a guard who can hit the mid-range with consistency, and has improved his shot from 3. His defense is what takes him up a notch, he’s the kind of defender that gets under your skin. He makes you earn it. 8ppg, 4 asts.

[player_tooltip player_id="775761" first="Miles" last="Daniels"] 6’1, De La Salle (Concord CA)

Daniels is more suited for the point guard position. He’s a pass first guard with plenty of quickness on the penetration to kick it out, dump it off or finish on his own. He has a quality mid-range jumper and floater because of his quickness. He has good court vision, patient at the top, and fast in open court.

[player_tooltip player_id="775775" first="Lee" last="Hubbard"] III, 6’2 Archbishop Riordan (San Francisco CA)

Young Lee prides himself on being a quality point guard and tenacious defender. He’s got long arms, a solid body and can handle the pressures of playing the point guard position. He has good court vision, always looking to push, pass and penetrate. He can finish with either hand. He’s also an annoying defender. He needs to develop his mid-range a bit more. He’s a pass first point guard.
