Because we now have an extended period of time to look back and eulogize the 2019-20 season, Prep Hoops Wisconsin digs into the numbers to find seven prospects who stuffed the stat sheet:

[player_tooltip player_id="801141" first="Casey" last="Verhagen"] -- Sheboygan Lutheran -- PG

Verhagen did it all for Sheboygan Lutheran as a sophomore. He put up 19.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, 9.3 assists, and 2.3 steals per game. The point guard’s versatile production helped SL to a 25-1 record. After having a breakout summer with Wisconsin Playground Club, Verhagen showed that he still has plenty of great basketball left to play.

[player_tooltip player_id="935426" first="Mason" last="Johnson"] -- Milwaukee Golda Meir -- PF

Johnson led Wisconsin in rebounds with 18.7 boards per contest. He didn’t just shine on the glass, though. The power forward also scored 27.4 points per game. Johnson earned these outstanding numbers thanks to his motor. He never quits on plays. The Golda Meir star would often bully opposing players out of the way en route to a big-time statistical performance.

[player_tooltip player_id="880969" first="Jacob" last="Ognacevic"] -- Sheboygan Lutheran -- PF

At times, it just seemed like it wasn’t fair. Ognacevic had no sympathy for the fact that he was playing against lesser competition. The power forward just dominated everyone. He recorded 39.4 points per game, which led the state. He also yanked down 16.1 rebounds per game. If there was a statistical MVP award given out, it would no doubt belong to Ognacevic.

[player_tooltip player_id="804898" first="Brandin" last="Podziemski"] -- SJNMA -- SG

While a handful of these prospects beat up on struggling squads, Podziemski proved that he could put up big numbers against any team in Wisconsin. Taking on some of the state’s tougher squads, the shooting guard stepped his game up and played even better when matched up against stiff competition. Podziemski averaged 27.6 points, 9.2 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game in his junior season. The 2021 shooting guard continues to prove that he is a top prospect who is worthy of Division One attention.

[player_tooltip player_id="694796" first="Caden" last="Boser"] -- Eau Claire Memorial -- SF

Don’t forget about Boser. He didn’t get a ton of coverage during his senior season, but that doesn’t mean he didn’t perform well. The Missouri-Kansas City commit tallied 23.1 points and 13.2 rebounds per game. At the college level, Boser could develop into a great player. His ability to shoot from outside makes him a matchup problem for opposing defenders.

[player_tooltip player_id="544505" first="Carter" last="Gilmore"] -- Arrowhead -- SF

Gilmore carried Arrowhead to a special season. His chase to win Mr. Basketball eventually fell short (fellow Wisconsin commit [player_tooltip player_id="544493" first="Johnny" last="Davis"] took home the award), but he still put up some of the best numbers in the state. While leading the Warhawks to a 23-2 record, Gilmore averaged 26.8 points, 10.8 rebounds, and 5.5 assists per game.

[player_tooltip player_id="879990" first="Dustin" last="Beauprey"] -- Mountian Top Christian -- SG

Beauprey's stock rose after a really good spring and summer with the Wisconsin Crusaders. He was able to roll over this momentum into the high school season. The shooting guard put up 28.2 points and 13.3 rebounds per game. When AAU play begins, Beauprey is a prospect that college coaches are going to want to keep an eye on.
