The season may have just come to an abrupt end. That being said, the games and talent on the court this season were truly special. There were a lot of seniors that had great seasons and accomplished a lot in their encore campaign. We will look at the finalists for the Most Outstanding Player, and choose 1 recipient of the honor. This was a loaded and deep field with any number of deserving finalists and award winners.

MOST OUTSTANDING PLAYER

[player_tooltip player_id="784992" first="Carlos" last="Johnson"] (SF, Benton Harbor)

In a loaded and deep class, Scooby Johnson gets my nod. For 4 years now he’s been a prime time player, always showing up on the big stage. Johnson contributes in so many different ways that it’s impossible for him not to effect the outcome of every game. He was always a threat for a double-double, or even a triple-double. Johnson can play outside-in or inside-out, in addition to being able to defend in the paint or on the perimeter. Scooby is a leader among leaders, and had his Benton Harbor squad primed for a run at a state championship. They stood with a 20-2 record and a District Finals game. Scooby Johnson will continue his basketball career at Butler, where he is the centerpiece of possibly their best recruiting class in school history.
