The 2019-20 season produced some top talent across the state of North Carolina. Here's a look at some of the top junior prospects in the 919 area.

MVP: Forward [player_tooltip player_id="533524" first="William" last="Felton"]- Millbrook

Felton finished the 2019-20 season as the Cap7 Conference Player of the Year and first-team All-District after producing 19.8 ppg, 11.2 rpg, 1.8 apg and 1.9 bpg in 2019-20. He posted 22 double-doubles in 25 games and posted 20 points or more in nine appearances for the Wildcats this season. He's one of the more underappreciated big men in the state. He already holds offers from UNC-Wilmington, High Point, Appalachian State and Elon.

1st Team

Guard [player_tooltip player_id="838016" first="Bobby" last="Pettiford"] Jr. - South Granville

Pettiford took home a number of postseason honors this past season for the Vikings. He took home District Player of the Year, Northern Carolina Conference Player of the Year and first-team All-District as well as first-team All-State by Max Preps and the NCBCA. He put together a solid 2019-20 campaign with 21.8 ppg, 7.4 apg, 6.0 rpg and 2.9 spg for the 30-1 Vikings. He holds offers from Virginia Tech and High Point.

Guard [player_tooltip player_id="574402" first="Carter" last="Whitt"]- Leesville Road

Whitt was a first-team All-Cap 7 performer given the damage he did on the hardwood down the stretch against rival conference foe, Millbrook. They beat them twice during postseason play, in the conference tiebreaker, Whitt went off for 34 points in a 65-60 victory. Then in the 3rd round of the NCHSAA State Playoffs, the Pride won again 65-62 in overtime behind 17 points from Whitt. He's a highly-sought-after prospect by many high major DI programs with his ability to make plays for others and score at will.

Guard [player_tooltip player_id="533552" first="Jaden" last="Cooper"] - Wayne Country Day School

Cooper is a member of Columbia's 2021 recruiting class. He's a combo guard with quite the IQ for playmaking, shotmaking and driving to the rim. He was a key member of Wayne Country Day's rotation, putting up 14.7 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 2.3 apg and 1.3 spg in their backcourt. They fell to Davidson Day in the NCISAA 2A State Title game but they'll certainly be back with Cooper returning in 202-21.

Forward/Wing [player_tooltip player_id="574448" first="Xavion" last="Atkinson"] - Goldsboro

Atkinson showed poise as a slasher that can get to the rim and finish with authority for the Goldsboro Cougars. He put up 16.9 points, 5.1 rebounds, 1.7 steals and 1.2 blocks per game as a do-it-all prospect on the hardwood. He's an electric prospect that likes to attack the basket and He'll get some looks as his senior year heats up.

Forward [player_tooltip player_id="838019" first="B.J." last="Freeman"]- Clayton

Freeman was arguably the best player in the Greater Neuse Conference, putting up 20.6 ppg, 11.0 rpg and 1.7 apg for the 26-3 Comets. He was one of the big reasons they went unbeaten in conference play at 10-0 with his ability to make things happen inside and out with the ball in his hands. He's one to watch already with offers from East Carolina, NC Central, NC A&T, Purdue and others.

2nd Team

Guard [player_tooltip player_id="574412" first="Terence" last="Harcum"] Jr. - Granville Central

Harcum was a first-team All-Northern Carolina Conference selection and a third-team All-State selection by NCBCA performer this past season for the Granville Central Panthers. He's slowly becoming the master of the triple-double as he surpassed 2,000 career points heading into his senior season. He put up 25.9 ppg, 8.7 rpg, 6.8 apg and 4.3 spg in 2019-20 while producing three triple-doubles and 18 double-doubles. He's drawn tons of D1 interest and should draw some offers any moment.

Guard [player_tooltip player_id="574432" first="Daylen" last="Berry"] - Panther Creek

Berry is an aggressive player on both ends of the floor that gets things done on both ends. When he's not scoring with ease on offense, he's flying around on defense for blocks and steals. He's a prospect that should have a strong senior campaign at Panther Creek. He holds an offer from UNC-Greensboro.

Guard [player_tooltip player_id="574431" first="Lucas" last="Taylor"] - Heritage

Taylor is a prospect that's slowly coming along as a three-level scorer and defender. He was a first-team All-District prospect and became the fourth player in program history to eclipse 1,000 points in his career. He took home NAC VI Co-Player of the Year honors for his play, averaging 21.6 ppg, 5.2 rpg, 2.3 apg and 1.6 spg. As he learns to find easy baskets through his defense, he'll be one to watch in 2020-21. He holds offers from Wofford and East Carolina.

Wing [player_tooltip player_id="574413" first="Eric" last="VanDerHeijden"] - Millbrook

VanDerHeijden came on strong as a new addition to the Wildcats' rotation. The 6-foot-9 wing prospect shot 45 percent from 3-point land while producing 12.1 points, 5.6 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.4 blocks per contest. He was also a third-team All-District pick as well as an All-Cap 7 first-team selection for his ability to knock it down from deep and make things happen with the ball in his hands. He holds offers from Boston College, East Carolina, George Washington, Old Dominion, Ole Miss and Stetson.

Forward/Wing [player_tooltip player_id="838017" first="Jalen" last="McDonald"] - Leesville Road

McDonald appeared in just 11 games this season but his impact as a slasher and high-flyer was felt, especially in his two appearances against Millbrook. He scored 30 points while going 11-of-18 from the field in an overtime victory in the state playoffs. He's a prospect with offers from Ole Miss, Murray State, East Carolina, App State and Norfolk State.

3rd Team

Guard [player_tooltip player_id="574464" first="Cole" last="Sinclair"] - Durham Academy

Sinclair took home TISAC Player of the Year after the Cavaliers finished the season 8-0. He stepped up big despite losing M.J. Rice to the season due to injury, putting up 16.5 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 1.5 apg and 1.1 spg in the backcourt. He's a combo guard that can score it on all three levels and defend with strength.

Guard [player_tooltip player_id="838063" first="Jamari" last="Mann"] - Granville Central

Mann is another prospect at Granville Central excelling in the backcourt alongside [player_tooltip player_id="574412" first="Terence" last="Harcum"] Jr.. He averaged 20.6 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.3 steals and 1.2 assists per contest while making 71 3-pointers from behind the arc. He's a prospect to keep an eye on after surpassing 1,000 career points this past season.

Guard/Wing [player_tooltip player_id="533518" first="Elijah" last="Jamison"]- Louisburg

Jamison is a versatile player that's really coming into his own for Louisburg. He really stepped his game up on the rebounding front this season, snagging 12.3 rebounds per game, a career-high, along with 29.7 points, also a career-high, 3.8 assists and 2.0 steals per game. He holds offers from Elon, James Madison and Ole Miss.

Wing/ Forward [player_tooltip player_id="838023" first="Redford" last="Dunton"]- Heritage

Dunton was a first-team All-NAC 6 selection after his play for the Huskies on the wing and on the inside. He finished the season with 16.4 points, 6.4 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game as the Huskies won the NAC 6 regular-season crown. He's got a solid feel for the game on the interior and as he learns to make an impact on defense, he'll be one to watch for Heritage.

Forward/Wing [player_tooltip player_id="838046" first="Sam" last="Perez"] - Middle Creek

Perez came along strong in the Middle Creek rotation as a primary scoring threat alongside [player_tooltip player_id="574445" first="Tharius" last="Suggs"]. He finished second on the team in scoring with 16.6 points per contest to go along with 8.6 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game. He's a versatile prospect with the ability to play inside and out with his size at 6-foot-8. He'll be a breakout prospect to watch this upcoming season for the Mustangs.
