Kapaun Mt Carmel defeated DeSoto (49-42); Basehor-Linwood got past Andover Central (76-72); Andover defeated Blue Valley Southwest (60-59); and Hays defeated Highland Park (46-43). The tournament continues on Friday with a pair of semifinal games.
Will Anciaux, 6’6, F, 2023, Kapaun Mt Carmel
Anciaux has earned a reputation as one of the state’s top performing freshmen this season and put together a strong performance for Kapaun Mt Carmel in Wednesday’s semifinal win over DeSoto. He has terrific size and an athletic frame that belies his age. He brings good toughness to the court, able to muscle up against opposing players in the paint, rebounds well and runs the floor well. He has an emerging skill set at the offensive end of the court and has the ability to score in the paint. He went for 16 points, six boards and three steals on Wednesday.
Jordan Brown, 6’3, G, 2022, Basehor-Linwood
Brown is a talented guard who plays with a big motor and is a top-notch competitor. Blessed with good size and athleticism, Brown handles the ball exceptionally well and can create offense for himself off the bounce. He has range well beyond the 3-point arc and uses a slight fadeaway to create separation from defenders. He can pull up off the bounce, or get all the way to the basket and finish tough chances in the lane. Brown uses his size and length well at the defensive end as well and can cover up opposing players well. He went for 29 points in a hard fought 76-72 win over Andover Central on Wednesday, including six 3-pointers and added six boards and five rebounds.
Wyatt Noll, 6’5, F, 2021, DeSoto
Noll is a tough, well-rounded forward who plays much bigger than his listed height. He is a terrific post-up player armed with good footwork, soft hands and a soft shooting touch around the basket. Noll is equally comfortable facing up out of the high post or the mid post and can attack the basket off the bounce and beat defenders to the basket. Noll is also a terrific rebounder and a hard-nosed defensive player. He weht for 18 points, six rebounds and four assists in a loss to Kapaun Mt Karmel.
Dalyn Schwarz, 6’6, F, 2021, Hays
A double digit scorer for Hays this season, Schwarz is an underrated forward who brings terrific size at 6’6, athleticism and the ability to impact a game at both ends of the floor. He has a good feel for blocking shots, gets on the boards and is a smart passer who can find the open man. Schwarz and 6’10 forward Dylan Ruder form a tough 1-2 punch on the front line and work well together. Schwarz went for 10 points, seven rebounds and blocked two shots and Hays got past Highland Park in Wednesday’s quarterfinal game.
Christian Ryckman Christian Ryckman 6'6" | SF Blue Valley Southwest | 2020 State KS , 6’6, F, 2020, Blue Valley Southwest
Ryckman is a skilled wing player who can handle the ball, play an inside-outside game and scores in a variety of ways. He shoots well from the perimeter and can make plays for himself and others. He led Blue Valley Southwest with 17 points in a hard fought 60-59 loss to Andover in Wednesday’s quarterfinal.
