A player who can light it up from beyond the arc impacts a game in a multitude of ways. From stretching a defense to prohibiting double-teams to producing points in bunches, guys who can shoot are invaluable.

Here are some of the Centennial League’s best shooters:

[player_tooltip player_id="889486" first="Jack" last="Hutchinson"], junior, Washburn Rural:

Hutchinson probably has the best reputation as a shooter in the league. He’s been known as a sharpshooter since his freshman year at Hayden. The 6-foot junior had five 3-pointers against Highland Park and four against Olathe North. The threat he and Noah Krueger posed from the perimeter helped [player_tooltip player_id="599759" first="Joe" last="Berry"] earn a share of league Player of the Year.

Chris Dixon, junior, Junction City:

The 6-foot-4 junior had a green light for the Blue Jays. His length allows him to get his shot off at almost any point. He knocked down six 3-pointers against Seamen en route to 21 points. Surrounded by a lot of shooters in the wide-open Blue Jay attack, Dixon wasn’t always a high scorer. His teammate Howard Johnson is also a 3-point specialist. Look for Dixon to be more the focal point of the offense next season, following the graduation of Qua’vez Humphreys.

Dagen Brewer, sophomore, Seaman:

Seaman wasn’t very good this year, but it wasn’t for a lack of perimeter shooters. The 5-foot-10 Brewer doesn’t create a lot of shots on his own, but left open, he’s deadly.

Skyler Douglas, senior, Emporia:

Douglas was the primary offensive threat to keep defenses from ganging up on scoring machine [player_tooltip player_id="889466" first="Charles" last="Snyder"]. Douglas had several 20-plus point outings, thanks to his athleticism and skill beyond the arc. Douglas averaged 12.7 points per contest.

Micah Kobuszewski, senior, Seaman:

Similar to Brewer, Kobuszewski wasn’t creating a lot of opportunities for himself. He had to wear a lot of hats for the inexperienced Vikings, and his shots mostly came when he floated around the arc and received a pass for an open attempt. Had Seaman had more of a scoring threat in the lane, he probably would have had many more opportunities. As it was, he had four 3-pointers against Topeka High and De Soto.

Others:

Kaeden Bonner, freshman, Seaman

[player_tooltip player_id="889495" first="Owen" last="Braxmeyer"], junior, Manhattan

Da’Vonshai Harden, senior, Topeka High

Howard Johnson, sophomore, Junction City

Noah Krueger, senior, Washburn Rural

[player_tooltip player_id="885580" first="Cade" last="Pavlik"], senior, Hayden

[player_tooltip player_id="885609" first="John" last="Roeder"], senior, Hayden
