The last week in Baltimore was conference championship week for the MIAA, BCL, Baltimore City and Baltimore County teams. It allowed us to see who can perform under the bright lights and against opponents who've seen them at least once throughout the season. The results caused a mix up at the top of the rankings.

1. St. Frances (38-4)

This week’s games: N/a

The Panthers avenged their MIAA A Conference Championship loss with three dominant wins this week against Calvert Hall, Loyola and Mount St. Joe in the BCL title game. VCU commit Ace Baldwin was brilliant yet again throughout their three-game winning streak and capped it off with 23 points, 10 rebounds and six assists in the championship game. The win marked three-straight BCL titles for St. Frances with Baldwin taking home MVP honors all three times.

2. Poly (21-2)

This week’s games: Class 3A Regional Quarterfinal vs Franklin

The Engineers came out from the opening tip and dominated the city championship game against a gritty Lake Clifton squad. They'll begin their pursuit of a fourth Class 3A state title this Tuesday in a match up against Franklin from Baltimore County.

3. Mount St. Joseph (27-5)

This week’s games: N/a

The Gaels advanced to the BCL Championship game after defeating St. Maria Goretti and Mt. Carmel. 2021 D'Angelo Stines continued to use the postseason as a stage to raise people's awareness on his skill set. The 6-foot-1 guard was key in their opening round win over Goretti with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Despite the loss to St. Frances, the future is bright for Mt. St. Joe.

4. New Town (22-1)

This week’s games: Class 2A Quarterfinal vs Pikesville

The Titans completed the repeat as Baltimore County champions with a win over Woodlawn. Following a slow start, the 2020 trio of Twan Carter, Martaz Robinson and Andrew Mills paced a dominant second half effort to seal the win. New Town also got a win over Eastern Tech by a final score of 91-58 in the opening round of state tournament play. They'll resume tomorrow night.

5. Lake Clifton (17-5)

This week’s games: Class 1A Quarterfinal vs Frederick Douglass

The Lakers came up short in the city championship game versus Poly, but can still be champions by winning the Class 1A title for the second-straight year. They'll lean heavily on the production of Wagner commit Mike Gray as they tip off their journey tomorrow evening against Douglass.

6. City (18-2)

This week’s games: Class 3A Quarterfinal vs Woodlawn

The Knights begin state playoff play tomorrow against a solid Woodlawn team from Baltimore County. City has plenty of talent and the firepower to overwhelm the Warriors with 2020 Dominick Carrington and 2021 Ahmad Harrison leading the charge. We'll see how far the two can carry them, as they'd have a meeting with Poly in the regional championship if all games go as predicted.

7. Archbishop Spalding (17-12)

This week’s games: N/a
