The point guard of the Class 4A State Champion Woodward Academy Eagles, Michael Whitmore Michael Whitmore 5'9" | PG Woodward Academy | 2020 State GA , is the epitome of a glue guy. While all his teammates get all the love and national attention, without Whitmore the War Eagles wouldn’t be nearly as efficient. Whitmore is the perfect complement to the stars. He plays tenacious defense, barks orders on offense and is the heart-and-soul of the program. Josh Smith Josh Smith 6'4" | SF Grayson | 2020 State GA of Grayson did the dirty work for Coach Geoffrey Pierce. He defends multiple positions, slashes into the lane and crashes the glass for rebounds. He averaged 7 points per game and has long since sacrificed a more glamourous role scoring the ball. His toughness and versatility helped Grayson win many games. Dara Olonade lost some minutes here and there due to all the transfers into Berkmar but he didn’t pack his bags and look for greener pastures. Instead, he accepted his role and played as hard as he could every second he was on the floor. Olonade is a physical defender and exceptional rebounder at 6-foot-5. His toughness not only bothered opponents but made his teammates better in practice. Xavier Presley, another undersized post presence, was an animal on the glass with his high motor. Presley played above the rim and made countless momentum plays throughout the year. On a Kell team that didn’t have much impactful size, Presley brought his hard hat and lunch pail to work every day. David McDaniel entered his senior season with limited big game experience and a role that was going to expand tenfold. His late season growth especially in the postseason was a determining factor as to why Chattahoochee was able to win their first state title. The late blooming 6-foot-8 post blocked shots, hit open jumpers and cleaned the glass.
