Four players who impressed on the big stage

One thing is clear: Northwest Nazarene got a good one in the fearless and creative [player_tooltip player_id="840300" first="Kyle" last="Gruhler"]. The Skyview senior had an absolutely amazing game in a heartbreaking loss. His 29 points were not quite enough as his buzzer-beating, three-point attempt would have won the game.

Gruhler scored 29 points including 4 three-pointers and one thunderous dunk. At 6-5 he showed an ability to dribble into the post and finish over bigger defenders or to intentionally draw a double team and then accurately pass to cutting teammates. His ability to dribble into and hit deep threes while being closely guarded was on full display and left many in the crowd open-mouthed and asking "Did you see that?"

[player_tooltip player_id="940457" first="Jace" last="Chatman"] | 6-4 wing-Class of 2021- Skyview |

One recipient of Gruhler’s playmaking skills was Chatman. The versatile junior wing had another good game in the Dome. The sweet-shooting Chatman scored 17 points and knocked down three 3-pointers. I have watched Chatman three times now and each game he shows a new wrinkle. Chatman will be a senior to watch closely this spring and summer. He is springy, ranging, and plays composed and also makes a great effort to play defense and rebound.

[player_tooltip player_id="843740" first="Gavin" last="Gilstrap"] | 6-10 Post- Class of 2021-Central Valley |

Gilstrap scored a clutch bucket with 20 seconds left when he caught a pass on the left block and rose up through traffic and finished with a two-hand dunk. The big man had 16 points and showed a willingness to post up down low and was relentless in attempting to seal. He followed the ball well, used his hips, and kept a high target for his teammates. My first impression of Gilstrap improved as the game progressed. He has a good motor and plays a smart and patient team game offensively. His defensive presence kept the driving lanes closed.

[player_tooltip player_id="929561" first="Jayce" last="Simmons"] | 6-2 Guard- Class of 2020- Central Valley |

Simmons is a north and south rim attacker. He accelerates with each dribble and explodes to the rim. He hit one three and 10 of his 15 points were the result of him getting to the rim on direct line drives. His leadership is apparent after just one viewing.
