Whether leading their teams to Sectional championships, putting up show-stopping performances in front of college coaches or just scoring at a record rate, these players were unstoppable last week. Now, let’s take a look at the top players from 2A Sectionals.
Lincoln Hale Lincoln Hale 6'5" | SG Linton-Stockton | 2021 State IN – Linton-Stockton – 2021
The Indiana State commit has been outstanding putting the ball in the hoop for Linton-Stockton this season, and he kept it up in the Sectional tournament. He averaged 24 in the two victories for Linton-Stockton. In the semifinals, Hale scored 21 in their 65-58 victory over the hosts, North Knox. Then, in the Sectional finals, Linton needed all 26 of Hale’s points to hold on for a 48-45 victory over South Knox. Hale is an outstanding scorer, and Liton-Stockton is going to need him to continue to score well if they are going to make a run through Regional.
Lane Lauderbaugh – South Decatur – 2021
Lauderbaugh has been a double-double machine this season, and the Sectional was no different. He earned his 16th and 17th double-double of the season in the semifinals and finals. He also came up just one rebound shy in the first round. He started it off with 22 points and 9 rebounds in a 69-61 victory over South Ripley. Then, in the semifinals, Lauderbaugh had 24 points and 14 boards in the 76-63 victory over Triton Central. Finally, in a rivalry game in the Sectional finals, Lauderbaugh put up 28 points and 11 rebounds in a 82-65 victory over North Decatur. Overall, he averaged 25 and 11 in the tournament, and he will be the x-factor for South Decatur in the future.
Koron Davis – Bowman Academy – 2021
In the Sectional, Davis averaged 24 points and 7 rebounds, both higher than his season averages. He started it off with a 25 point performance in a victory over Hammond Bishop Noll. Then, he scored 19 in the win over Andrean. Finally, he saved his best performance for the most important game. He put up 27 points and 10 rebounds in the Sectional final victory over Gary Roosevelt. This was Davis’s first double-double of his career, and it could not have come at a better time.
Luke Brown Luke Brown 6'1" | PG Blackford | 2021 State IN – Blackford – 2021
Brown may be the most prolific scorer in the state. He had shown that this season with 54-point and 47-point performances. He didn’t have any games like this in Sectional, but he played exceptionally none-the-less. He averaged 31 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists per game. He started the week off with a 34 point game in the win over Madison-Grant. Then, in the semis, he put up his 19th 30-point game of the season with 33. He “only” scored 25 in their Sectional finals victory over Tipton, but Brown is going to be a player to watch in the future as he is a lights-out shooter.
Christian Johnson Christian Johnson 6'1" | SG Parke Heritage | 2023 IN – Parke Heritage – 2023
Johnson is one of the few freshmen that has made a name for himself this season. Johnson had an outstanding performance in the Sectional tournament for Parke Heritage averaging 20 points and 9 rebounds per game. His best performance came in their first-round victory over Cloverdale in which Johnson scored 25 points, the third most of the season, and pulled down 15 rebounds, a career-high. This was only Johnson’s second double-double of his career, but he is definitely going to be a player to watch in the future.
