Think Kobe and Shaq, Magic and Kareem, Jordan and Pippen. A good one-two punch is tough to beat, and a lot of fun to watch. There are a lot of good one-two punches in the small schools in northeast Kansas. Here are just a few:

Gabe Garber and Braden Argabright, Sabetha:

A couple of multisport stars, the seniors have been doing it for a while up at Sabetha. Garber is on of the leading scorers in the state with a 21-point average. Argabright provides tons of support with about 12 a game. He popped for a high of 23 against Hiawatha and has been held to single figures just twice.

Drew Stutesman and Chase Harrison, Madison:

Sophomore Stutesman is averaging 13.5 a game for one of the top 1A teams in the state. Harrison averages 11.3, and came up huge when the Lyon County League Tournament was on the line, hitting a three-pointer at the buzzer to beat Lebo.

Tanner Hecht and Taybor Vetter, Wamego:

These two are the long the short of it for Wamego. The 6-foot-5 junior Hecht averages 17.5 points a game, and he’s relatively consistent in his output. Vetter, a lightning quick football commit to Washburn averages 11.5 and his point production is more varied.

Avery Gatzemeyer and Tyler Lockhart, Valley Falls:

Gatzemeyer, a 6-foot-1 sophomore, leads his tough 1A team with 15.4 points per game. 6-foot-3 senior Tyler Lockhart is a four-year starter who adds 13 points per contest.

Jaxson Pope and Tayshawn Barfield, McClouth:

The 6-foot-8 Pope is one of the tallest players in the region. He averages 17.7, while the 6-foot-2 Barfield, a fellow senior, contributes 12.5 per game.

Quinn Neuenswander and Bryce Clements, Jefferson West:

These two seniors sort of take turns taking the lead for Jeff West. The two seniors both average right around 13 points a game.

Parker Stone and Blake Farmer, Perry-Lecompton:

The 6-foot-1 junior Stone has had some big games and averages 15.2. The 6-foot-7 senior Farmer is a huge presence and contributes 10.6.
