In January he had back to back games where he dropped 58 points vs Bishop McNamara and then followed that up with 54 points against Chicago Christian. Davis talked about those magnificent performances.
“Yeah those games were huge and it honestly felt regular to me. I picked my spots very well and my teammates found me. I had 6 threes both games so my shot felt very smooth, but overall just reading what was given and reacting off of that. Scoring at all three levels.”
The lefty guard spoke about his season up to this point as a whole.
“The season has gone very well. We’ve had a lot of young guys step up in the spots that we lost from last year. We can get out and run for days with the small lineup. Also we are first in conference as of now and making noise in our class so can’t complain much. We are definitely title contenders in my eyes! The season for me has in my eyes reflected the amount of work I’ve put in during the off season. I have added much more to my game I feel and doing as much as I can to prove I can hang with the top guys in the state. But biggest focus is the state title!”
With Aurora Christian being a 1A school they have a legit shot to make it deep in the playoffs come March. Where do things stand with recruiting?
“I have one offer from Culver-Stockton and roster spots from Monmouth and Joliet Junior College.”
Davis mentioned to us that he is planning on visiting the defending JUCO national champions Vincennes on February 12. Also he is actively talking to a ton of D2 and JUCO programs. D2 programs include Black Hills State, Fort Hays State, Fort Lewis, Colorado-Mesa, Colorado-Gunnison, Illinois-Springfield, West Florida, and Lincoln Memorial. JUCO’s in pursuit in addition to Vincennes are Kirkwood, Waubonsie, North Central Missouri State, McHenry, and College of Lake County.
What will Davis be looking for in a program?
“A school where I can make an impact and also push me to get much better. A place where I have good relationships and feel is right. Also a school that can help get me to the next level after college.”
The Aurora Christian point guard knows he can be an impact player at the next level.
“I feel like I can bring extreme energy and grittiness. Also I think I could be an all-around point guard that can score, get others involved, or even lock up on the defensive end.”
Davis ran the show for Hoops Intensity Training last summer on the PrepHoops Circuit.
