Below is the first set of top individual performances from Saturday’s action at Mater Dei high school.
Evan Mobley, Rancho Christian
Mobley showed yet again why he’s considered one of the top three prospects in the country for the 2020 class. The 6-foot-11 forward finished with 18 points on 8-for-11 from the field to go along with 15 rebounds, six assists and five blocked shots in a 58-55 victory. The USC-bound senior has an impact on every aspect of the game, on both ends of the floor, and that’s what makes him such an intriguing long-term prospect.
Rancho Christian forward Evan Mobley was a dominant presence on both ends of the floor in the Eagles’ 58-55 win over Gonzaga (D.C.)Chuck Harris, Gonzaga
Harris had a nice overall floor game in Gonzaga’s loss to Rancho Christian, finishing with 11 points, seven rebounds and three assists in just 21 minutes of action. The 6-foot-3 senior, headed to Butler in the fall, showed aggressiveness and heady playmaking ability on both ends of the floor.
Dominick Harris, Rancho Christian
Offense was tough to come by for both Rancho Christian and Gonzaga, but Harris was able to hit shots when needed to help the Eagles to a three point victory over Gonzaga. The 6-foot-3 combo guard bound for Gonzaga (the college) finished with 13 points on 5-for-10 from the field.
Ryan Evans, Mater Dei
Evans was one of few Monarchs to turn in an efficient effort in Saturday’s loss to Whitney Young. The 6-foot-3 shooting guard played all 32 minutes and finished with 14 points on 5-for-9 from the field, including 4-for-7 from 3-point range. The Cal Poly SLO-bound senior also grabbed four rebounds.
Terrance Williams, Gonzaga
Williams is an absolute load in the painted area with his 6-foot-6, 215-pound frame. The four-star power forward, heading to Michigan in the fall, finished with team high’s in both points and rebounds, registering 15 and 8 in those respective categories. Williams was forced to settle for perimeter jumpers due to the defensive pressure from the above-mentioned Mobley, and while he went 5-for-11 on two-point field goals, he only hit one of his seven attempts from 3-point range.
