QUARTERFINAL PREVIEWS
Episcopal vs. Landon
There should be plenty of three-point attempts and makes in this game, with both teams being perimeter-oriented. Darius Johnson and Garrett Johnson have combined to average nearly 40 points per game this season, so the key for Landon will be to neutralize one of these two. Keeping them off the foul line will be key as well, as they both shoot a high percentage on high volume. It will also be important for Landon to limit opportunities for Tymu Chenery, Lou Hutchinson, and John Loughlin. Canin Reynolds and Kino Lilly Jr. will not only have to score but defend as well. They are certainly underdogs in this matchup, but if they can exceed the output of the Johnsons and get some help from Mike Gray, they will be in a good position to make this game interesting.
Georgetown Prep vs. St. Albans
This game is difficult to predict as both teams will play hard, defend and make shots. The development of sophomore Bryce Sewell into a reliable playmaker has been huge for Georgetown Prep. St. Albans’ sophomore point guard Miles Hicks will likely be matched up with Sewell, and whoever plays better will probably dictate the result of this game. Forwards Lucas Siegel and John Ford will help control the glass against the likes of Stefan Marcelle, but Mark Llewellyn, Quentin Southall, and Ben Woodward represent depth on the wing that St. Albans lacks. Naturally, it will be up to sharpshooting wing Mike Katsock to play at a high-level for his team to be in a position to win.
