Pomona was down 10 at the half then made a third quarter push, but it was not enough to stay with Valor. Valor ended winning the game 81-69.
Baskin truly does it all
Trevor Baskin kept Pomona within striking distance against Valor. He had an impressive stat line of 36 points, 11 rebounds, 9 assists, and 3 blocks. Trevor is someone you can call a point forward, he takes the ball up the court for Pomona and yes he is 6’8. Trevor shot the ball well from mid range and three point land, going 2 of 4 from behind the arc. He also attacks the basket to finish or draw fouls. He is such a threat when he drives to the basket the defense concentrates on him which allows him to kick the ball to open teammates. Trevor also cleaned the boards on the offensive end, getting 5 offensive rebounds. Really good game from him, Colorado Mesa got an absolute steal with him!
Cole Stevens provides help for Pomona
Cole Stevens was able to help out Trevor by hitting some shots. Cole has a good stroke from the outside and was able to hit some good mid range shots and 3 threes. Cole also played some solid defense. Cole did a good job providing a second option for Pomona, definitely will be interesting to see if he can consistently help out Trevor.
Rocky Beers does the little things
Rocky Beers had a good game finishing well at the rim by moving smaller defenders. Rocky also did well getting 3 offensive boards for easy lay ups. This really impressed me, the fact that he is not the big man on this team but he was going for rebounds on the offensive end with aggression. He also has a nice stroke from the outside went 1 for 2 from three point land. Rocky is a solid contributor definitely a great role player for this deep Valor team.
Roger Rosengarten is a big match up problem
Roger Rosengarten has size that not many players in the state can match. Standing at 6’7 275 pounds, this a big boy. The Washington football commit bangs down low and is able to move opposing players with ease. Roger was able to post up and get some easy lay ups and draw fouls down low. He also pulled in 8 rebounds, helping out this Valor team with a huge presence down low.
Amondo Miller is the real deal
Amondo Miller had a great game despite being in some foul trouble was able to put up 21 points. He is a player who truly looks like he wants to score the ball. Amondo attacked the rim with aggression, getting three dunks and three finishes in traffic. He was also able to hit 3 of 7 from three point land with a nice stroke from the outside. Amondo impressed me with his ability to score inside and out, definitely the MVP for Valor this game. Watch out for him, if he keeps up this production he will be known as a one of the top players in the class of 2021.
