Class A’s Top Freshmen
Top freshmen in Class A? Today we have a strong group of players that make up the class of 2023 that fans in South Dakota should get to learn of quickly.
Trey Huber (5’11 PG) of Clark/Willow Lake. Huber has had a tremendous freshman season scoring 14 points a game for an 11-8 team. Trey is coming off of a 17 point game that included three triples made in a double overtime win over Florence-Henry.
Oliver Vincent (5’10 PG) of Sioux Valley. The young playmaker has given Sioux Valley 13-14 points a game (the last we checked) and has at times exploded for big nights. Oliver had 27 points in a win over Parker and is coming off a 10 point, 6 assist, and 5 board game versus MCM last Friday.
Isaac Bruns (6’1 SG) of Dakota Valley. DV is 15-5 on the season and a key nightly contributor has been Isaac Burns scoring 16.3 points a game on the wing. Bruns can create for others but this year he’s catching and hitting shots, like the 11 of 13 game recently against Dell Rapids. Isaac is a 49 percent three point shooter.
Reed Rus (SF 6’2) of Mt. Vernon/Plankinton. The Titans are a young team that have suffered some hardship this year including a long losing stretch the last month. MVP’s youth is playing a lot though and wing Reed Rus is one of the top couple options on the team scoring 11-12 a game.
Elias Sims (SF 6’4) of McLaughlin. The Mustangs have put together an 11-8 season to date and forward Elias Sims is a big part of a recent winning stretch of 5 victories in seven games. Sims is scoring about 16 a game.
Spencer Frenholz (SG 6’3) of Miller. Miller has yet to win a game but we do have to honor the fact that Spencer, a big guard at 6-foot-3, is the Class A leading freshman scorer averaging 17 a game. Spencer has to create nearly every shot for the team.
Adriano Rama (PG 5’9) of Red Cloud. The Crusaders are 14-5 on the season winning 10 of their last 11 once the freshmen found a grove with the older players. Rama has scored nine a game including double digits in seven of his last nine games.
