G Dalton Banks – 2020 – Eau Claire North
Banks is making a great case to be the No. 2 ranked player in the 2020 class. Facing two high major guards, Banks exploded for 46 points, 6 assists, and 6 rebounds. The Southern Illinois commit was simply unguardable and brought Eau Claire North back from a big deficit. Caught in a track meet, Banks put the Huskies on his back and just dominated. While he’s more of a pass-first guard who has always had an excellent feel for his teammates, putting the ball in the right spot with on-time, on-target passes that put his guys in a rhythm, it was fun to see Banks unleash offensively. In fact, he’s got a deeper bag of tricks than we knew, specifically his ability to create jumpers off the bounce.
Aidan Clarey – 2020 – SG – Brookfield Academy
He cooled off the second half, but this was a performance that’s going to move Clarey up in the rankings. Going head-to-head with a D1 wing while giving up a lot of size, Clarey matched him shot for shot in the first half, scoring 24 points. The Rockhurst commit would finish with an even 30 in a loss to Lake City. It didn’t matter where Clarey was on the floor or if he got a clean look, for a long stretch, if the ball left his hands, it was going down. Clarey was able to adjust in a variety of ways as well — whether he needed to fade away from the basket, speed up his release, etc., it didn’t matter. He ran out of gas as Brookfield Academy just couldn’t get stops, but we won’t hold it against him.
G Johnny Davis – 2020 – La Crosse Central
This kid just continues to prove anyone who thinks he’s not a four-star talent wrong. The Wisconsin commit dropped 42 points against Minnehaha Academy, featuring three elite recruits and two power-five football prospects. Davis’ jumper has come such a long way over the last three years and he’s an absolute killer in the mid-range. Davis thrives at being able to catch on the wing or high post, face-up, and either shoot over the top or slash. A violent player who doesn’t back down from anybody at the rim, Davis got to the foul line 20 times and also had a monster putback slam. Davis added 10 rebounds and 4 assists in the loss.
Jordan Davis – 2020 – W – La Crosse Central
Davis had 7 assists in a loss to Minnehaha Academy. Not known for his playmaking ability, but more of a 3-and-D guy, Davis passed the ball very well against Minnehaha Academy. The Wisconsin commit also had 11 points and 5 rebounds. Davis showed some good stuff in the post. He was able to back down bigger players at times, including a fellow Wisconsin football commit and score over the top. Davis also had his hands full defensively with the five-star and Gonzaga commit Suggs and did an admirable job, although Suggs had his way late and took over the game.
Logan Jedwabny – 2020 – W – Kaukauna
It remains a mystery as to why Jedwaby still has so little schools pursuing him. Jedwabny feels like a Division 2 talent that should have D3’s praying he falls to them. However, there’s been little action on either front. The senior wing poured in a game-high 29 points in a loss to Mahtomedi. An assassin offensively, Jedwabny is a dangerous sniper who can catch and shoot with ease or put the ball on the deck and attack the hole. Jedwabny is a great-looking stroke with extended range, but can also take advantage of defenders who don’t close out under control. A better athlete than he gets credit for, Jedwabny plays with a chip on his shoulder and has good intangibles on the defensive end.
Logan Landers – 2021 – F – Brookfield Academy
You can just tell that Landers is playing with a new level of confidence based on his shot selection. He can rush shots at times, but Landers wasn’t missing by much when he was off. The 6-foot-8 junior has a great blend of power and finesse. He’s a strong 3-point shooter who can also do it off the dribble. Inside, Landers does a great job of backing people down under the rim and can score with an unblockable jump hook. Landers is also a good athlete who can run the floor. A kid that’s trending upwards and is probably a top 10 prospect in the state, look for Landers to garner Division 1 interest this summer. He had 23 points in Saturday’s loss to Lake City.
Jacob Newhouse – 2020 – F – Kaukauna
He’s a little undersized and probably doesn’t have the strength a lot of people want to see from a post prospect, but Newhouse is another guy we’re pretty high on. The senior forward had 25 points and caught fire in the second half to bring the Ghosts back against a tough Mahtomedi squad. Newhouse has a sweet stroke from 3-point range and really forces opposing bigs to play away from the rim and outside their comfort zone. Newhouse also has a great feel in the pick n’ roll game. He reads help-side defenders and has good feet when rolling to the hoop or flaring out to the 3-point line.
Tyrell Stuttley – SF – 2020 – Onalaska
If you get Stuttley down on the block, he’s very effective. He’s only about 6-foot-5, but the Minnesota State commit has advanced footwork, including a great baseline spin that comes quickly off the catch. Stuttley scored 20 points and grabbed 8 rebounds in what was a methodical pace most of the night against Lakeville North. Stuttley was a very efficient 9-of-13 from the field, doing a ton of damage around the rim, generating easy buckets against a very well-coached and solid defensive squad.
