AVCTL (IV): Standout Prospects

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">With the season in full swing, Prep Hoops Kansas takes a look at several players raising their profile in the Arkansas Valley-Chisholm Trail League IV this season.</span></p> <p><b>Arkansas Valley-Chisholm Trail (4)</b></p> <p>Andale, Clearwater, Mulvane, Rose Hill, Wellington, Wichita Collegiate</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><b><a href="https://prephoops.com/player/gradey-dick/">[player_tooltip player_id="787613" first="Gradey" last="Dick"]</a>, 6’5, SG, 2022, Wichita Collegiate</b></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">An elite prospect and one of the top recruited players in the state, Dick has a terrific all-around skill set and the ability to impact a game at every level. He’s an athletic guard who brings length and size to the floor and can get up and make plays around the rim. Also a strong outside shooter who has a good jump shot and the defensive prowess to force turnovers, block shos and then finish plays on the opposite side. Dick currently holds offers from Wichita State, Nebraska, Kansas, Kansas State, Texas Tech, Baylor and Oklahoma to name a few.</span></p> <p><b><a href="https://prephoops.com/player/trey-abasolo/">[player_tooltip player_id="889526" first="Trey" last="Abasolo"]</a>, 5’11, G, 2021, Mulvane</b></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">An all-conference performer last season who adds control, strength, defensive toughness and scoring ability to the floor. Abasolo has a strong frame with solid athleticism and an ability to get to the basket and finish plays or get to the free throw line. He can knock down shots from a distance and is good at absorbing contact and finishing contested shots around the glass. Also a terrific defender who shows great timing and touch. </span></p> <p><b>Koby Campbell, 6’2, G, 2020, Rose Hill</b></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">A terrific athlete who runs hard and makes plays on both ends of the floor. Campbell has good size at 6’2 and shows the handles and creative nature needed for a lead and scoring guard. He can score from distance and is good at driving and slashing to the basket and getting to the free-throw line and connecting. A leader who sets of town and comes through in big moments. Campbell holds basketball offers from Kansas Wesleyan and Nebraska Wesleyan and holds football offers from Fort Hayes and Emporia State.  </span></p> <p><b><a href="https://prephoops.com/player/easton-hunter/">[player_tooltip player_id="885498" first="Easton" last="Hunter"]</a>, 6’3, G, 2020, Andale</b></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">A terrific leader and all-around guard who can take over a game and shoot lights out from distance. Hunter has good size at 6’3 and strong athleticism and handles for a lead guard but the scoring ability and shooting percentage of a scoring guard. Hunter is at his best on offense but is an impressive defensive player who can defend post players and block shots and forced turnovers. He gets out in transition and can throw down dunks and absorb contact and get to the free-throw line. Hunter currently holds offers from Bethel College, Nebraska Wesleyan University, Southwestern college, Concordia University of Nebraska, Kansas Wesleyan and McPherson College to name a few. </span></p> <p><b>Cole Thornton, 6’8, PF, 2020, Wichita Collegiate</b></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Also a standout baseball prospect, Thornton is nice post option for Collegiate who has great size, length and strong defensive awareness. He’s listed at 6’8 making him a target near the basket and a problem for opponents looking to find space in the paint. He can block shots, pin the ball on the glass and is good at getting back on defense after scoring. Thorton also has a nice jump hook-style shot he uses on the block. </span></p>
