Daylen Berry knows how to set a tone
2021 guard Daylen Berry was the game’s biggest standout with 26 points in a 65-52 victory for the Catamounts. Berry came out hot in the early going, scoring 10 points in the first quarter to give Panther Creek at 16-9 lead after 1. He cooled off a bit in the second quarter, but he still put up five points while showing off his skills as a rebounder and shot-blocker on the defensive end. In the second half, he put up 11 points, but still managed to stay within the offense and find teammates for easy buckets. He’s a member of the 2021 class with room to grow. He already holds an offer from UNC-Greensboro.
Dylan Drinkwater is an under-the-radar prospect to watch
Another 2021 prospect in Panther Creek’s rotation is combo guard Dylan Drinkwater. Drinkwater is a prospect that can create for himself and others off the dribble. He scored all six of his points in the second half while handling some of the ballhandling duties in the backcourt. He’s got potential to emerge as a sharpshooter from behind the arc.
Moustapha Conte knows when to step up
The Catamounts were running high in the second quarter until senior guard Armon Muldrew went down with an ankle injury. With him out, Moustapha Conte was one player that stepped up big in his absence. Conte was a burden on the offensive glass for Jordan and did well finishing around the rim. He put up 10 points in Panther Creek’s victory.
Unsigned Senior Alert: Joaquin Davis
The Jordan Falcons have quite a prospect in senior Joaquin Davis, who’s gone under the radar, for the most part, this season. Davis is a wiry forward listed at 6-foot-4 with the ability to run the wing on the break, attack the rim and battle for rebounds in the paint. He’s a player some local colleges should take a look at with some raw intangibles.
Max Thornton has potential for Jordan
Sophomore wing Max Thornton was a bright spot on the hardwood for the Jordan Falcons despite the result. Thornton put up 12 points, including two 3-pointers, showing off his touch on the perimeter and ability to get to the free-throw line. He’s a young prospect with upside and is already making waves in the Jordan rotation.
