Kouts
Kouts is a team that has yet to lose a game going 14-0 at this point but not quite sure many have taken them seriously probably due to their #347 ranked strength of schedule. However, they have a high-powered offense scoring 78.4 points per game and have beaten some good teams lately in Washington Twp. twice and Morgan Twp. in the last two weeks. Their best contest just got postponed but watch for that rescheduled date against Gary 21st. That is the team they have to beat to get out of Sectionals.
North Daviess
North Daviess is only 8-7 but of those 7 losses two are to Barr-Reeve and one to Loogootee, one to Linton-Stockton, and one to Mater Dei. Those teams are all highly ranked. They lost 4 straight to open the season and then have gone 8-3 since. Now, their schedule gets easier with only Jasper and Bloomfield as they really tough games to watch. They have some upperclassmen that need to step up but don’t be shocked if they end the season with 14 or more wins and a chance to make noise in their Sectional.
Southwood
Southwood has been among the better 1A teams in the state the last half decade. This year has not been kind to them with the 157th toughest schedule which is among the toughest in 1A. They are just 6-8 on the season but they have gone 3-1 in their last four games. They hard part of their schedule is over with really only Bluffton and Madison-Grant with records over .500. Add in that their Sectional is awfully terrible and this is a team that could run the table and finish with 12 or more wins and get into Regionals before anyone notices them.
Christian Academy
Christian Academy has not had an easy road as they have the 148th toughest schedule this season already. They are in the Louisville area so they tends to play a lot of 4A teams and that jacks up that strength of schedule. But, they are 4-0 against Sectional teams and 4-0 against their class. This team has guards, they have size, and they have defense, holding teams to 50.8 ppg. They might not lose another game this regular season so pay attention as they head into the final month.
