Topeka teams tested at tournament time

<p>It’s tournament time in Topeka. With four schools from the city participating in the annual Topeka Invitational Tournament, let’s look at how the others fared in the first round of their tournament action:</p> <p>1) Shawnee Heights continues to grow:</p> <p>Playing in the Dodge City Tournament of Champions, the T-Birds rolled over Dodge City in round one, 59-36. The T-Birds forced 22 turnovers and harassed the Red Demons into just 26% shooting. Big man <strong>Nasire Anderson</strong> was slowed after several big outings, but 6-foot-4 sophomore <strong>Carter Olson</strong> had 13 points.</p> <p>2) Seaman stills seeks first win:</p> <p>Derby was too much for the Vikings in the opening round of the McPherson Invitational. Seaman will face a familiar foe in round two in Junction City. Freshman <strong>Kaeden Bonner</strong> led the Vikings with 13 points, including four three-pointers. Junior <strong>Micah Kobuszewski </strong>added 12.</p> <p>3) Shawnee Heights faces an enormous test:</p> <p>The T-Birds will have a chance to measure themselves against the best. They take on the state’s top rated team in Campus. The Colts bring a collection of talent headed by seniors <strong>Shawn Warrior</strong>, <strong>Steele Chapman</strong> and <strong>Thomas King</strong>.</p> <p>4) Washburn Rural taken down by big man:</p> <p>The Junior Blues couldn’t stop Ottawa 6-foot-5 senior <strong>Kobe Johnson</strong>, who ripped Rural for 23 points on 9-11 shooting.
