Paul Bruns of Dakota Valley. Last night 2nd ranked Dakota Valley improved to 6-0 on the season with a two score win over Sergeant Bluff-Luton out of Iowa. In that game Bruns not only scored 22 points for his team but also went over 1,000 points for his career. A great achievement and it’s been done with at last 15 more games to go in his junior season. Bruns has put his name in the hat for Player of the Year with 32 points and 13 rebounds a game so far this year.
Isaac Bruns of Dakota Valley. Look out South Dakota, there is another Bruns putting up numbers for Dakota Valley! Isaac is a 6-foot-1 guard who has been deadly at the arc all year making half of the 4-5 threes he takes per game. Last night Isaac scored 28 points for the second ranked Panthers.
Brady Fritz of Winner. It’s been a heck of a shooting start to the season for Brady Fritz, a 6-foot-2 gunslinging junior. He’s improved his three point numbers every year including this year where he’s shooting 38 percent from the arc and making half his shots overall. Brady scored 33 points last night and is now averaging 24 points and seven boards a game this season. Winner knocked off Chamberlain 68-64.
Will Kadlec of Ipswich. Will is a stat stuffer and as he stuffs those stats his team wins game. Ipswich knocked off Northwestern 55-39 on Tuesday night improving their record to 5-2 for the year. The Tigers have relied on the six foot Kadlec’s 21 points, six boards, three steals, and three assists a game all year. Last night Will totaled 17 points and nine boards in the most recent win.
Jaden Kral of Yankton. A big reason that Yankton is number one in Class AA is the way guys are playing around the state’s best player Matthew Mors. Cooper Cornemann is an established number two option for the team, but others are stepping up game by game as well. Last night 6-foot-3 sophomore frontcourt player Jaden Kral played a big part in the one score overtime win over Sioux City East. Kral has been a limited minute reserve for most of the year but last night may have been a breakout game.
Gradee Sherman of Viborg-Hurley. Sherman is a 6-foot-4 frontcourt junior that plays some center and some at the power forward spot. The Cougars have only played three games this year so far but it’s been an abusive three games including last night’s 61-39 win over Elk Point-Jefferson. Sherman’s double-double led the way scoring 21 points with 11 rebounds. There will be several more double-doubles to come.
