Stock Risers: Wichita area standout guards (2020)

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Prep Hoops takes a look at several players who are off to strong starts to the 2019-20 season in the 2020 class.</span></p> <p><b>Micah Jacques, 6’1, G, 2020, WIchita Southeast</b></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">A nice guard for Southeast who can operate as a primary ball-handler and a scoring option from the wing. He has a good clean shot and can connect from three-point range and the mid-range area and also shows good strength as a defensive rebounder. He is also comfortable in transition and makes smart passes and has the ability to play through contact and get to the free-throw line and connect as he is shooting 70 percent from the line. </span></p> <p><b>James King, 6’1, G, 2020, Wichita East</b></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">A standout for MTXE over the summer who has a strong frame and great toughness. Kings has the ability to handle the ball for himself and can also play well as a catch-and-shoot guard who lights things up from downtown. He has a soft touch to his 3-pointers and a sweet spot at the top of the key. King is also great at defense and knows how to outwork opponents and use his shoulders to fight for space. </span></p> <p><b>Scott Larkin, 6’1, G/F, 2020, Bishop Carroll</b></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">A nice player for Bishop Carroll who makes plays and knows how to contribute in a variety of ways. He shows up in ways that don’t make it to the stat book but he is very productive on both ends of the floor. Larkin is averaging 7.4 points per game and adds 2.8 assists, 3.6 rebounds 1.8 steals and close to one block. He’s also hitting 67 percent from the free throw line.</span></p> <p><b>Makye Loggins, 6’0, G, 2020, Wichita South</b></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Loggins is a sharp lead guard for South who brings quickness, handles and a scorers mentality to the floor. He had a strong summer with NLHA and looked to connect from mid-range and beyond the arc. He is a hard-nosed guard who can make plays with and without the ball. A nice defender who looks to contest shots and force turnovers. Loggins is averaging 11.6 points per game 40 percent from the field, 39 percent from the 3-point range and 60 percent from the free throw line. </span></p> <p><b>Carter Reid, 6’0, G, 2020, Bishop Carroll</b></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Another impactful point guard for Bishop Carroll who has good speed, strength and athleticism to make plays around the basket and as a defender. Reid is a wiry defensive guard who has a strong frame at 6’0 and can also get up and make plays. He’s currently shooting 63 percent from the field and 71 percent from the free throw line. He is averaging 10.4 points, 2.2 assists, 1.6 rebounds and 2.4 steals per game. </span></p>
