Prep Hoops Missouri took in some action in Jefferson County as Festus St. Pius hosted rival Crystal City. St. Pius sprinted out to an 18-2 lead, but Crystal City battled back to cut the lead to eight points. In the end, it was too much St. Pius as the Lancers pulled away for a 73-30 victory.

Here is a look at the top standouts from both teams.

St. Pius

Riley Naeger 6’7” (‘20): The versatile Drury signee is one of the best players in Jefferson County. He scored 20 points on a variety of low post moves, dribble drives from the perimeter and 3-pointers. He is also an excellent passer.

Josh Ruble 6’2 (‘20): A fine all around player who really turned up the heat in the second half with 15 of his 20 points. He is a good athlete who is excellent at moving without the basketball. He also knocked down a pair of 3-pointers.

Kayden Cook 5’8 (‘20): One of the quickest players on the floor, Cook was a disruptive force on the defensive end with his on-ball pressure and ball hawking. He had several steals that led to easy transition opportunities. His dribble penetration and passing skills were also very good.

Eli Boyer 6’4 (‘20): A very solid wing player who was always in the right spots on the floor, whether it is cutting to the basket for a layup or getting a putback off the offensive boards

Crystal City

Donovan Tullock 6’1” (‘21): The junior guard was the best athlete on the floor. He had two very exciting blocks, one of the chase down variety when he swatted the ball off the glass. He has a quick first step and an effective pull up jumper.

Drew Richardson 6’2” (‘20): A fundamentally sound guard, he struggled to get shots to fall, but he did many other things to help his team. He is a reliable ball handler and a pinpoint passer with a high basketball IQ. He also grabbed a team high eight rebounds.

Andrew Denby 6’2 (‘20): An undersized post player who battled all night against bigger players inside. He used his thick body to get good position in the lane and finish with his left hand in traffic.
