Every team in the South Wake Athletic Conference took a loss this past week as we look at a new leader atop the power rankings. Here's a look at the third edition of the SWAC Power Rankings.

1. Garner Magnet Trojans (5-2)

Last Rank: 2nd (↑1)

There's a new team atop the SWAC Power Rankings, for now. The Trojans went 1-1 this past week with a victory over Middle Creek and a one-point loss to Apex Friendship. They're in prime shape led by unsigned seniors Daveon Dunn and Chris Nobles. Their next conference game will be against Fuquay-Varina on Jan. 28.

2. Apex Friendship Patriots (5-2)

Last Rank: 4th (↑2)

The Patriots got revenge on the Trojans with a 73-72 victory and have quietly won three games in a row since starting out 1-2. A big fourth quarter and 22 points from Nick Farrar was enough to avenge an early-season loss to Garner. They're well on their way back to the top of the power rankings as evidenced by their recent climb. They'll have a big one against Fuquay-Varina tonight.

3. Middle Creek Mustangs (5-2)

Last Rank: 1st (↓2)

The Mustangs have seen a bit of a fall from grace with a recent loss to Garner Magnet. They bounced back last Friday with a win over Holly Springs. Juniors Tharius Suggs and Sam Perez continue to power Middle Creek's offense in spite of a lackluster effort against Garner. Tonight, they'll look to continue their winning ways against South Garner.

4. Fuquay-Varina Bengals (4-2)

Last Rank: 3rd (↓1)

The Fuquay-Varina Bengals have been the surprise of the conference this season and have an opportunity to make a move in the SWAC standings with a win tonight over Garner Magnet. Ryan Maslow (2021), Wol Yak (2020) and Darius Briley (2021) are three players to keep an eye on for the Bengals.

5. Holly Springs Golden Hawks (3-4)

Last Rank: 4th (↔)

The Holly Spring Golden Hawks are another team looking to turn a corner after falling in their last two conference games. They've lost by single digits in their last two games so they're right on the doorstep with Apex and South Garner up next on Friday and Tuesday.

6. South Garners Titans (1-6)

Last Rank: 7th (↑1)

The South Garner Titans finally got their first win in conference play with a victory over Apex last Friday. They're still finding their way as a young team but soon the experience factor should kick in for them.

7. Apex Cougars (1-6)

Last Rank: 6th (↓1)

The Cougars have some work to do after dropping to the last spot in the SWAC Power Rankings. They're a team adjusting to a new staff with some young pieces to work with. Sophomore Zane Cogdell is one to watch on this squad. They've got Holly Springs tonight.
