Top programs stretching from Tennessee all the way to the West Coast bring high end talent and excitement to the packed stands in this two-day hoops extravaganza. This years event was as impressive as ever. Missouri was well represented with 5 of the state’s top programs in action. Here are the Show-Me-State seniors who dazzled throughout the weekend:
7’0 F Davion Bradford | Mehlville
This weekend was some of the best basketball I’ve seen Davion play. Against stiff competition, he scored 20+ in both games and was a force inside. He had several thunderous dunks, showed nice touch off the glass over either shoulder, and displayed an improved free throw stroke with a more fluid and smooth release. He was dominant on the glass as per usual and continues to be one of the best rim protectors in the area.
6’7 F Lamontay Daughtery | Mehlville
Lamontay is having an excellent senior season and was a key contributor in both games at Quincy for the Panthers. He is shooting the ball with a lot of confidence and is money from 15-feet and in. He is playing hard on both ends, using his length to disrupt passing lanes and secure boards defensively and attacking the offensive glass and slashing to the rim on offense.
6’6 G Luke Kasubke | Chaminade
Luke is one of the most lethal shooters in the state. The Kansas State signee put his marksmanship on display Friday night with a 14 point performance against Memphis East that included three from long distance. In Saturday’s win against Corliss, he showed some offensive versatility by finishing a number of baskets in transition through contact.
6’5 G Matteus Case | Chaminade
Matteus is a really good two-way player. He plays with grit and tenacity and has a versatile skill-set to match. He has a physical frame and is a strong finisher around the rim. He shot extremely well over the weekend burying eight three-pointers over the course of two games.
6’7 F Cam’ron Fletcher | Vashon
Cam’ron really stuffed the stat sheet Friday night against Sheldon (CA). He finished with a modest 13 points that included a trifecta of three-pointers. As that part of his game continues to improve, his ceiling continues to rise. He also pitched in eight rebounds, three assists, and a number of blocks.
6’0 G Phil Russell | Vashon
Russell had a big time performance in the Wolverine’s impressive win over Sheldon (CA). He pumped in a team high 21 points and connected on four from beyond the arc. A pair of those triples came in the fourth quarter and helped Vashon pull away for the victory.
6’4 G Coban Porter | Father Tolton
Coban is a high-skill, high-IQ wing that is having a tremendous season for Tolton. He always makes the right read on or off the ball, has excellent footwork and ballhandling ability, and is a big-time shot-maker. He hit a number of college level threes off the bounce with hands in his face and made several nice passes after slicing and dicing his way to the lane.
6’3 G Nate Schwartze | Father Tolton
Schwartze had a monster game against Liberty. He is tough as a slasher and can finish in a number of ways with nice English off the glass. He had a sequence late in the fourth quarter where he buried a ridiculous and-1 three followed by a deep fall-away jumper from the wing that made it a one possession game.
