Here were the teams of the week:
Minot
The Magicians earned arguably the best win of the season, ending Jamestown’s more than year-long unbeaten streak with a 71-64 win. Jaxon Gunville and Deonte Martinez were excellent, combining to score 47 points. The defensive effort was superb as well, as Minot held the Bluejays to just 33 percent shooting for the contest. The Magicians now sit atop the WDA at 4-1 on the year and are looking like a state title contender.
Shiloh Christian
The Skyhawks have played one of the toughest schedules in the state early in the year and thus far, they’ve impressed. Shiloh had an excellent weekend in the Hoopster and Dan Brown Classic games, beating Langdon/Edmore/Munich and Bishop Ryan on back-to-back nights. Jaden Mitzel is having another all-state kind of campaign, but the Skyhawks are also getting balanced contributions and winning with staunch defense again.
Hillsboro/Central Valley
The Burros are the No. 1 team in Class B and showed why on Friday when they went to Colfax and beat Richland by 18. The Colts were ranked in the top-three in the preseason after finishing third last year in the state tournament, and were held to just 44 points. Carson Henningsgard was terrific yet again, scoring 31 points.
