January Stock Risers!

With a good portion of the basketball season completed, it’s always exciting to take a quick look back at some of the players performances from last season and the progression they have made. We have seen quite a few young players take the next step in their progression which leads us to a rundown of stock-riser prospects! Westover HS Junior Guard Darius Jewell: He clearly has worked on his game and is doing all the things that his team needs from him. His ability to shoot the ball has always been a talent of his but this year we have seen him continue to develop which has led to him being able to make plays in different ways. Scoring off the dribble, making plays for teammates by distributing and defending at a solid rate are all things he has done well. Millbrook HS Junior Guard Eric Van der Heijden: The 6’9 Guard has seen his stock rise over the last few months, especially after some nice performances during the John Wall invitational. He plays on one of the top teams in the state and understands how to get his offense within the flow of the system and is a versatile player that you can throw in at multiple positions. Northwood Temple Sophomore <a href="https://prephoops.com/player/jaquantae-harris/"><a href="https://prephoops.com/player/jaquantae-harris/">Jaquantae Harris</a></a>: Dealing with injuries and overall adjustments to being in a new program, he got off to a slower start this season. It seems as if now he has turned the corner and is putting together big time scoring performances to help his team be successful. Harris is a player that we have been following closely over the last few years, he’s a legit D1 prospect with a nice combination of skill and athletic ability. Word of God Christian Senior Guard <a href="https://prephoops.com/player/chase-forte/"><a href="https://prephoops.com/player/chase-forte/">Chase Forte</a></a>: Time and time again, we have seen him put up big time performances against outstanding competition so it’s clear that his phone should be ringing off the hook. The intensity that he brings on both ends of the floor as well as the confidence he plays with, are some of the things we like about his game. Schools at the D2 level should be offering and LM programs should keep a close eye on him. Crossroads Christian Senior Guard <a href="https://prephoops.com/player/zach-murphy/"><a href="https://prephoops.com/player/zach-murphy/">Zach Murphy</a></a>: He’s gone from averaging 9 points per game last year to 22 points a contest and leading his team to a 13-9 record so far. We saw Murphy play at a high level over the summer with the Greensboro Warriors and it seems as if those performances only helped his confidence going right in to play with Crossroads.
