10. Pine Creek
Pine Creek has claimed their spot as the top team in 5A from the Colorado Springs area. This week they came off some big wins traveling out of state to Kansas and winning three in a row. Peyton Westfall has had an impressive season leading the team in scoring with his sweet stroke from the outside and has been throwing down some dunks on the fastbreak. Senior Kenny Pham has been contributing 9.8 points, 4.1 assists, and 4.1 rebounds per game. This team has a decent challenge coming up when they play Rampart.
9. Fairview
Fairview has an impressive record of 13-3 through a tough schedule. Recently they beat Pueblo East and Monarch, some pretty good teams. Greyson Carter is still going strong averaging 18.6 points and 7.9 rebounds per game. They have strong guard play in TJ Williams and Mark O’Niell who control the tempo well on the offensive end. They have a solid match up coming up this week when they play Fort Collins.
8. Valor Christian
Valor Christian is coming off of three great wins beating Pine Creek, East, and Columbine, all teams in or just outside of the top ten. This team has lost five games, three coming out of state and two coming from the number two team in the state Smoky Hill. This team is one of the deepest in Colorado, having multiple bench pieces who are solid contributors. Junior Amondo Miller is leading the team in scoring with 12.7 points per game. They have other good contributors, Cole Bott, AJ Kula, Rocky Beers, Talin Unruh, and Roger Rosengarten (when he is not busy with football). All of these guys mentioned are 6’4 or taller, this team is lengthy! This team has three good match ups coming up this week when they play Ralston Valley, Lakewood, and Pomona; Ralston Valley being the toughest of out these match ups, should be a great game!
7. Eaglecrest
Eaglecrest is coming off a rough patch of the season losing three in a row to three top 5 teams, Cherry Creek, Grandview, and Smoky Hill. This team is being led by senior Zion Ruckard, who despite losing to Smoky Hill had one of the most clutch performances I have ever seen putting the game into overtime. Then they have the two star juniors, Skylar Wilson and Ty Robinson, who are both adding over 12 points per game. One surprise player has been big man Adrian Price who has a bulky build, plays good defense, and finishes well inside. This team has a good challenge coming up when they play Overland, a team who stuck with Grandview and beat Smoky Hill.
6. East
East is coming off of a rough week taking their first two losses of the season to Valor Christian and Pomona. Langston Reynolds and Boston Stanton are still going strong, both averaging over 20 points per game. Their sixth man Tom Conelly is adding 10.1 points off of the bench. This team has a decent challenge coming up when they play Lincoln.
