5. Cherry Creek
Cherry Creek is coming off a big win against Eaglecrest and had a close overtime loss to Grandview. Junior Julian Hammond who moved up to our number two spot in our 2021 rankings is having an impressive season averaging 22.7 points per game. Beside him is the tough defensive guard Myles Purchase, who is one the best on ball defenders in the state. Their match up against Smoky Hill will be a true test for this team, it will be a great battle of the guards.
4. Ralston Valley
Ralston Valley is currently ranked number 1 in the RPI rankings, with a strong season, only losing two games so far. This week they had some solid wins against Chatfield and Evergreen. Against Chatfield Caden Gigstad hit the game winning three, and had 16 points to add to it. Football star Caleb Rillos is averaging a double-double with 17.9 points and 10.4 rebounds per game. Teammate Luke Carlston has stepped up averaging 11.3 points per game. This week they have some good challenges coming up when they play Wheat Ridge and Valor Christian.
3. Grandview
Grandview is coming off of some very good wins beating Eaglecrest, Overland, and Cherry Creek. The two headed monster in Caleb McGill and Lian Ramiro are still rolling through top teams in the state. Lian is averaging 15.4 points, 4.5 assists, and 3.5 rebounds per game. Caleb is averaging 16.3 points and 7.5 rebounds per game. They have other solid contributers: CJ Thomas, Cade Coles, and Tanner Holtman. This team has an upcoming rematch against Smoky Hill which should be a great game to watch.
2. Smoky Hill
Smoky Hill has only two losses on the season, but have beat many top ten teams in the state including Grandview, Eaglecrest, Valor Christian, and Chaparral. Senior point guard Quinten Rock has been averaging 26.6 points per game since the new year, completely taking over! Junior Jalen Weaver is playing like the best junior in the state, averaging 19.1 points per game without forcing shots and feeding the ball to his teammates. Deangelo Horn has recently shaken off his football rust, making all the hustle plays on the court, along with countless athletic plays. This team has two tough match ups this week when they play Cherry Creek and rematch Grandview.
1. Rangeview
Rangeview still remains undefeated and will probably continue that status until the playoffs. Senior Obi Agbim has been going viral recently with some crazy in game posters. This team is fun to watch but does not have any good competition in their league. The one possible challenge they have is this week when they play a 13-2 Vista Peak team.
