Many of the state’s top seniors play for some of New Jersey’s top programs. They are not the only top seniors in New Jersey as there are many who are flying under the radar. Here are some of the top seniors that are flying under the radar.
Tyje Kelton, 6’5 SF Dunellen
Kelton is a three-sport athlete who excels on the hardwood. He is an excellent rebounder as he had 17 double-doubles as a junior. Kelton can stretch the defense with his three-point shooting, but his specialty is putting the ball on the floor and getting to the rim. He has a good feel for the court who can defend multiple positions on the floor. Kelton is one of the most underrated seniors in New Jersey as he could reasonably have a senior stat line of 500 points, 300 rebounds, 100 assists and 100 steals.
DJ Alicea, 6’2 CG Dayton
Alicea is one of the top scorers in the state after putting up 23.8 points per game as a junior. He can score from all three levels, but his strength is getting to the free throw line. Alicea eclipsed the 30-point mark on four occasions last season, including the 30-point outburst to knock Dunellen out of the North 2 Group 1 playoffs. He has a solid mid-range game and knows how to finish around the basket. Alicea is a high-level scorer who should easily score around 25 points per game as a senior.
DJ Woodbury, 6’2 CG Burlington City
The Temple football commit is a high-level athlete who knows how to score the basketball. Woodbury excels at getting to the basket and finishing through contact. He is not just a slasher as he can knock down perimeter jump shots and has a solid mid-range game. Woodbury is also a solid rebounder for a guard his size. Burlington City is looking to repeat as Central Group 1 champions and could do behind Woodbury’s scoring prowess.
Corey Manning-Floyd, 6’5 G/F Snyder
Manning-Floyd is one of the most underrated players in New Jersey as he almost averaged 20 points and 10 rebounds a game last season. He is tenacious on the glass and is an underrated shot blocker as he had 46 last season. Manning-Floyd is capable of knocking down three-pointers, but he excels at getting to the rim. Once he gets to the basket, Manning-Floyd can either finish through traffic or over the top of the defender. Snyder went 17-7 last season, but could have a historic season behind Manning-Floyd’s ability to score the ball.
Alex Galvan, 6’7 PF Manasquan
The Louisville baseball commit is one of the top rebounders in New Jersey. Galvan had 21 double-doubles last season as he uses his elite positioning to dominate on the glass. He has a soft touch around the basket and can step outside to knock down the occasional perimeter jump shot. Galvan is also an underrated shot-blocker as he blocked 53 shots as a junior. Manasquan is looking to repeat as Central Jersey Group 2 champions and will be led by Galvan’s interior presence.
