It is always a good time taking a look at freshman. Whether it is high school, college, or professional basketball, the world is intrigued by first year players. They are relatively unknown but AAU has been a huge factor in getting player's names out there at a younger age. Building a top high school program means recruiting freshman to come in and develop over time into top players. Here are some of the freshman who could make an immediate impact on their teams.

Mackenzie Mgbako | 6'6 SF | Gill St. Bernard's

Height cannot be taught. Coming into his first high school season, Mgbako has a lot of it. This is a forward who has an advantage because of the team he is on. Gill St. Bernard's breeds smart big men who know how to play the game. Just look at Zach Martini. Mgbako has a chance to be a dominant rebound for Gill. St. Bernard's this season. His scoring will come over time but he will be able to use his size down low early and often.

Dajuan Wagner Jr. | 6'2 PG | Camden

Prepare to see a freshman score the basketball with skill that is well beyond his years. Wagner is the son of one of the best high school players to ever take the floor in New Jersey. Scoring is hereditary. Wagner is an exceptional ball handler who can finish at the rim or step out and shoot from deep. At 6'2, Wagner will give opposing defenses fits over the course of the season. This is a freshman who has a chance to do big things at the high school level. Expect Wagner to be one of Camden's top scorers and one of the top scorers in the conference. Not to mention he is the favorite to lead the freshman class in points per game.

Simeon Wilcher | 6'3 SG | Roselle Catholic

Wilcher and his brother C.J. will both take the floor for Roselle Catholic this season. As a freshman, Wilcher will have to make the most of his minutes when he steps on the floor. Despite his incredible talent, Roselle Catholic is loaded with some of the top players in the state. Wilcher is a top freshman in New Jersey. His passing excellence and ability to shoot the ball will get him some time. The Lions have a young guard in Wilcher that can set his teammates up in prime position to score the ball. This is extremely valuable for a team that is full of scorers.

Zack Davis | 6'4 SF | Ranney

Ranney was the top team in the state last season. They lost the likes of Bryan Antoine and Scottie Lewis but they are hoping that they have their new four year stud. Davis is a big forward who can play any position on the floor. Ranney is a program that is used to excellence and Davis fits the bill.
