Event organizer Dinos Trigonis, a legend in his own right does a tremendous job of putting together fan-friendly matchups. The event features 8 different divisions spread out over several courts throughout the city. Today marks the beginning of the Eastbay division which features 16 teams from all over the country. In this article, PH takes a look at some of the top players from the Eastbay division.
Glenn Taylor 6’5 SF Cheyenne 2021 (#4PHN 2021) – I’m a huge Glenn Taylor fan. Talk to anyone in the city of Las Vegas about him and the first word that comes out of their mouths is winner. Taylor posses the unique ability to raise the play of his teammates. With that said, a tournament session like this is the perfect place for him to display his talents. They say players bring scouts, and because of Taylor, I expect several scouts to stop in to watch Cheyenne play this week.
Austin Anderson 6’1 SG Centennial 2020 (#45PHN 2020) – Centennial has certainly played an ambitious schedule to start the season. That hasn’t seemed to deter Anderson. He’s been consistent throughout the first 4 games putting up games of 24 and 17. His biggest game of the season came in his most recent one, as he scored 31 against Faith Lutheran.
Jake Wahlin 6’7 SF Timpview 2021 (#8PHU 2021) – I’m excited to see Wahlin, a guy with this kind of size and skill should be fun to watch. Wahlin has the ability to shoot it from 3, finish in transition and make a play for himself off the bounce. Timpview is 7-1 this year and the junior is second on the team in scoring at 14 per game.
Coleman Ford 5’10 PG Timpview 2021 (#9PHU 2021) – Timpview has a couple of guys that I want to watch. The junior led team includes the contributions of Ford. The 5’10 PG currently leads the team in scoring, assist, and steals.
Azavier Johnson 6’4 PG Faith Lutheran 2021 (#11PHN 2021) – I pretty much will watch Faith Lutheran play anywhere. Throw in the opportunity to watch AZ in a tournament setting on his home floor and I’m sold. The 6’4 power guard is running a lot of point for coach Walters, and I’m extremely excited to watch the next phase of his development. This tournament could be a terrific springboard for the junior guard.
Alexander Spaight 6’0 PG Canyon Springs 2020 (#15PHN 2020) – Spaight has quite a load to carry for Canyon. The pioneers are a talented team, however you get the feeling that they will only go as far as he can carry them. Canyon opens up with Castell and then has a possible second-round matchup with either Clark or Farmington. Either way they are going to need big performances from Spaight to navigate this difficult tournament draw.
Cameron Kimble 6’4 SG Clark 2021 (#7PHN 2021) – A Cam Kimble Glenn Taylor Championship Matchup would be nice. Both play similar roles for their teams. They both are winners that are not only willing to shoulder the scoring load, but also do the little things necessary to raise the abilities of their teammates. Kimble is an efficient scorer and one of the rare High School players that excels at the mid range. Super excited to see him in this stage.
Collin Chandler 6’3 PG Farmington 2022 – Chandler has been on the radar for quite some time. The high IQ PG has a slick handle and is terrific at creating plays for his teammates. He currently is stuffing the stat sheet for Farmington averaging over 21 a game to go along with 5 assist and 4 boards.
