Prep Hoops Kansas released its most recently updated 2021 class rankings this week and the updated list features several players who have been mainstays in the rankings, as well as several players who have moved up the list.
Here Prep Hoops takes a look at several players who have raised their profile and moved up the Prep Hoops’ 2021 rankings.
Joe Berry, 6’3, G, 2021, Washburn Rural
8 to 3
One of the top two-way players in the state had one of the most productive summers as well. Berry looked strong playing up an age level with KC Team Yobo’s 17U squad as he showed up on both sides of the floor. He has a basketball frame with long arms, broad shoulders and can play above the rim at both ends of the court. A dangerous player who knocks down shots and pins the ball on the glass.
Keither Florence, 6’7, F, 2021, Campus
17 to 6
An elite forward who can dominate the boards and step back for a deep ball. Florence made a huge jump this offseason as he showcased his skills, length and overall athleticism. He forces his way to the basket with his strength and all-around athleticism and had some impressive throw downs in transition.
Sterling Chapman, 6’4, G, Campus
15 to 10
Chapman is a talented 2021 guard prospect with a big, athletic frame and an array of skills that can lead to easy looks around the basket and smart passes to his teammates. He has great size for point guard duties and can move inside some and score as a big man. He can pull up for jumpers and has isolation skills which looked sharp over the summer.
Jack Johnson, 6’2, G, Andover
22 to 11
A player who had a terrific outing this summer for NLHA, showcasing an all-around game on both sides of the ball. He can hit shots from distance and is good at shooting before opponents have a chance to get close. Opponents struggle to stay in front of him and struggle even more when he’s hitting NBA range 3-pointers.
Drew Nicholson, 6’6, F, 2021, Hoisington
27 to 25
A solid two-way player who is dependable when he’s asked to make a play, both as an offensive player and defensive one. Nicholson has good size and build and can make plays in a variety of ways both on the low post and the wing spot. Nicholson had a strong summer with the Kansas Kings and looked to make an impact early.
