With top teams and tremendous talent, this has been one of the most anticipated early season shootouts in the region and it delivered in a big way. Prep Hoops was happy to be in the building covering the action, and we will be releasing several lists of the top talents in the next couple days. Next up, our All-Underclassmen Team:
MVP: 6’2 Jr Isaac Haney (Dora) led the Class 1 Falcons to a thrilling overtime win over Heritage Hall Thursday night, and he was brilliant from start to finish. One of the elite scorers in Missouri, Haney is a large reason why Dora is becoming a household name across the state. He can fill it up from all three levels and is on pace for an historic season.
1st Team:
- 6’5 Jr Trey Alexander (Heritage Hall) put up a ton of points over the weekend and really put on a show Friday against Glendale. When he is feeling it, he is truly one of the top scorers in the entire country
- 6’2 Jr Anton Brookshire (Kickapoo) was in his bag Thursday night and showed off his scoring prowess. Quick trigger, deep range, and tremendous ball-handling ability made him one of the more exciting players at the shootout
- 6’2 Jr Jordan Mitchell (West Memphis) more than held his own against Rondel Walker in an impressive win over Putnam City West. Jordan is a one man press-breaker that knifes his way through traffic and can score or distribute with the best of him. He is one to keep a close eye on
- 6’3 Jr Mario Fleming (Cardinal Ritter) absolutely torched Guyer on Friday, burying jumper after jumper in route to a 26 point performance that was nearly enough for a comeback win over one of the best teams in Texas
- 6’3 So Carter Harrell (Glendale) has really come a long way since I saw him in the same event last season. As a sophomore, he has developed into the alpha-dog for Glendale and although they lost, there were times where he matched Trey Alexander blow for blow
Honorable Mention:
- 6’7 Jr Jack Chapman (Blue Valley Northwest)
- 6’4 So Larry Hughes Jr (CBC)
- 6’4 Jr Damon Nicholas (Duncanville)
- 6’5 Jr Brayden Bradshaw (Guyer)
- 6’6 So KyeRon Lindsay (Guyer)
- 5’11 Jr Daylon Andrews (Putnam City West)
