Here are the games to watch this week:
Cavalier at Grafton/St. Thomas, 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, December 17
A matchup between two teams that hope to be contending in Region 2, Grafton/St. Thomas has been among the best teams in the region for a while and despite graduating all-state big man Dalton Albrecht, the Spoilers still have the talent to win 15-20 games this winter. Cavalier has been building for a season like this one for a while as the Tornadoes are talented and experienced led by all-state caliber forward Andre Carrier.
Four Winds/Minnewaukan at Beulah, 7:30 p.m., Friday, December 20
A matchup featuring two top-10 teams as the Indians take on the Miners in what is always one of the better early-season matchups in Class B. Beulah returns Trey Brandt and Jonah Larson but is otherwise breaking in a whole crop of new guys while the Indians return just about everybody from last year. The interior matchup between Larson and junior big man Bronson Walter of Four Winds should be fun.
The CNDC Tournament, Thursday-Saturday, December 19-21
With four top-15 teams in the CNDC Tournament in Rugby, there could be some spectacular matchups particularly on Friday and Saturday if the tournament goes to chalk. Rugby and New Rockford-Sheyenne are without doubt, top-10 teams in class B while Dunseith and St. John are both right on the fringes and can expect to make appearances in the rankings depending on the week.
