Here are the games to watch this upcoming week:
Fargo Davies at Grand Forks Red River, 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, December 17
No. 2 Fargo Davies gets a good test Tuesday when it heads to Grand Forks to take on No. 5 Red River in a matchup between two EDC contenders. The Roughriders split with the West Fargo schools last week and while Will Obioha’s injury takes away some of the shine for this matchup, Red River is still one of the best defensive teams in the EDC while Fargo Davies is one of the best offensive teams in the EDC.
West Fargo at West Fargo Sheyenne, 2 p.m., Saturday, December 21
The Saturday matchup between the West Fargo schools should be excellent. Sheyenne has already earned solid wins over Mandan and Grand Forks Red River while the Packers lost at home to Red River. Similar to last year, it’ll be very much about the significant dichotomy between these teams as the Packers want to pound the ball inside to Hunter Lyman and Carter Birrenkott while the Mustangs rely heavily on their perimeter trio of Zion Dettman, Blake Berg and Tyler Terhark.
Devils Lake at Wahpeton, 5:45 p.m., Friday, December 20
Two of the teams that figure to compete in that second tier of the EDC, Grant Nelson and Devils Lake head to Wapeton to take on a solid Huskies team. Wahpeton’s taken early losses to West Fargo and Fargo Shanley but the Huskies have solid depth and returning talent, plus play a brand of basketball that will always keep them in the mix. Devils Lake is getting excellent play around Nelson early in the year and should be a factor in the league too.
