Millbrook Showcase: What We Learned from Millbrook vs. Ben L. Smith

<p>Millbrook got a marquee victory over Ben L. Smith, 83-64, in the final game of the 2019 Millbrook Showcase. Here's a look at what we learned.</p> <h5>Will Felton is the best big in the 2021 class</h5> <p>29 points, 13 rebounds and four blocks. That's the line 2021 big man <strong>Will Felton </strong>put up against the Golden Eagles in his sixth double-double in seven games. He showed poise against a top team at the 3A level and really boosted his stock as one of the top prospects in the state. High major programs would be wise to get in with Felton now before everybody starts offering him.</p> <h5>Jalen Mccoy was too much in the frontcourt</h5> <p>Another player in the frontcourt that had a strong game for Millbrook was 2020 forward <strong>Jalen Mccoy, </strong>as he posted 18 points, four steals and three rebounds in the victory. McCoy continues to show why he's a key piece in the Wildcats rotation with his ability to finish with fundamentals around the rim then catch an alley-oop with the defense on their heels. He's an unsigned senior that should get some looks soon.</p> <h5>Ben L. Smith gets a wake-up call</h5> <p>It was an interesting game for Ben L. Smith as they just couldn't seem to get Murray State commit <strong>Nic McMullen</strong> going in the game. He finished with just nine points in the game. They got solid games from 2020s <strong>Khalid Hinds</strong> (20 points) and <strong>Silas Mason</strong> (18 points) but things just seemed to overwhelm them in the frontcourt. It will be interesting to see how they adjust going forward.  </p> <h5>Hinds did his thing despite the result</h5> <p>As mentioned above, one player who had a strong game was 2020 point guard <strong>Khalid Hinds. </strong>He never seemed to let Millbrook's pressure get to him as he led the offensive attack for Ben L. Smith and did well to get to the free-throw line off the dribble drive. As the season progresses, he'll be a floor general for colleges to track with his ability to bring it on both ends.</p> <h5>Second half runs overwhelmed Smith</h5> <p>Millbrook opened the game strong, outscoring the Golden Eagles 22-11 and their runs continued in the second half. They opened the third quarter on a 12-5 run and continued to stretch their lead as the game wore on once again outscoring Ben L. Smith 22-11 in the third quarter. It was quite the display from the Wildcats as they remain undefeated at 7-0.</p>
