Here are the top-10 teams in Class A North Dakota
Fargo Davies
One of two remaining undefeated teams, Fargo Davies has been dominant early in the year. The Eagles haven’t been tested much in EDC play yet, but they are showing an elite combination of shooting, depth and defense. The matchup with West Fargo Sheyenne after the new year should be a dandy.
West Fargo Sheyenne
The Mustangs have the best resume in the state thus far, owning wins over Mandan, West Fargo and Grand Forks Red River. Blake Berg looks like the early favorite for the Player-of-the-Year in the EDC and the team is more committed on the defensive end this year.
Minot
Fresh off a win over Jamestown, the Magicians move into the top-three. Minot got 47 points from its star backcourt of Deonte Martinez and Jaxon Gunville and after that early-season loss to Dickinson, they’ve looked like a team that can win a state title.
Jamestown
A loss to Minot drops the Bluejays from the top spot in the rankings and ends a lengthy winning streak, but make no mistake, this Jamestown team is still elite. Boden Skunberg shot 9 for 29 from the field and the Bluejays, as a team, shot just 33 percent from the field, and they still only lost by seven.
Dickinson
The Midgets haven’t played since December 17, so they’ll either be really well-rested going into their next game, or really rusty depending on the result. Things will certainly get tougher for them after the break.
Bismarck Century
The Patriots have a surprising loss to Turtle Mountain but have otherwise been alright. The offense is very much a work in progress, but they have proven they can win with defense. If the role players achieve a passable level of consistency, look out.
Bismarck Legacy
The Sabers earned a hard-fought win against Turtle Mountain with both teams missing arguably their best players. Keegan Woodbury has been excellent all year for Legacy and guys like Sam Link and Logan Wetzel have given the team a boost.
Grand Forks Red River
The Roughriders have taken losses to the two best teams in the EDC plus a very good Moorhead team, but have otherwise been fine. They look like a distant third best team in the EDC and if Will Obioha can get back into the lineup soon, they’ll be dangerous down the stretch.
Mandan
The Braves aren’t completely healthy yet, but Elijah Klein was back in the lineup in their win Saturday, scoring 24 points and hauling in 10 rebounds. Jayce Lowman has been excellent early in the year, averaging nearly 16 points per game.
Bismarck
Armed with arguably the most potent offense in the WDA, Bismarck is looking like a team that can contend in the thick middle class of the league. Max Tschosik and Treysen Eaglestaff have both been all-league caliber early in the year.
