Prospect Spotlight: Igor Yoka-Bratasz (2020)
Igor Yoka-Bratasz, a class of 2020 guard from Glenelg Country School, will be a key player for the Dragons once again this season. We didn’t get to see him play AAU over the summer because he went back home to Poland to try out for the national team, but he looked sharp during a recent scrimmage and will certainly play an important role for his team.
“I think the best part of my game is probably driving,” Yoka-Bratasz told Prep Hoops. “I just have to work on my shot. I’m a pretty good defender and I like to play hard. Find the open man, and put the team first. The most important thing for me is the team.”
As one of the more experienced players on his team, Yoka-Bratasz understands that he will play a key part in keeping the team together during tough times. Some younger guys will be looking to their seniors for leadership in those times, and he seems prepared to fill that role.
“I Always talk to my teammates,” He explained. “Make sure when they get down, I always try to talk to them and make sure they’re alright.”
A solid defender both on and off the ball, Yoka-Bratasz has emphasized excelling on that side of the floor and letting things come to him offensively. GCS has some good shooters on the perimeter who will space the floor and allow him to get into the paint where he can make plays. While no one is actively recruiting Yoka-Bratasz yet, we expect that to change soon given his solid all-around game.
What can he bring to a college program?
“I just want to play hard and make guys around me better.”
Igor Yoka Bratasz is currently ranked by Prep Hoops as a top-100 prospect in his class. To view the full ranking of Maryland and DC’s 2020 class, click here.
