Big Seven
Hiawatha (11-11, 6-8), Holton (3-18, 3-11), Royal Valley (8-13, 6-8), Jefferson West (10-11, 7-7), Perry-Lecompton (21-3, 12-1), Sabetha (16-6, 12-2), Nemaha Central (16-7, 8-6), Riverside (4-16, 1-12)
Reese Holaday, 6’1, G, 2022, Holton
Holaday is a smooth guard with good size and a terrific outside shooting stroke. He is coming off a strong summer running with SSA Elite and is poised for a breakout sophomore season. He has the ability to put the ball on the floor, attack the basket and can knock down floaters in the lane or pull up for jumpers.
Michael Moreno, 5’10, G, 2020, Hiawatha
Also a standout football player who was an all-state performer a year ago, Moreno is a high energy player who is a pest defensively, all over opposing guards, coming up with steals and surprises opponents with an occasional blocked shot.
Dane Spoonhunter, 6’4, PF/C, 2020, Royal Valley
One of the state’s most underrated football prospects, Spoonhunter is a strong, bruising big man with a big man game. He has terrific hands, able to grab rebounds in traffic, haul in tough passes and shows a soft touch around the basket. He works hard in the post, can get position and looks to score in the lane. Spoonhunter will be a tough match-up for most opponents due to his size and strength.
Sage Meyer, 6’2, G, 2020, Hiawatha
Meyer is a long, rangy wing player who is sleight of build, but has a smooth all-around game. He is terrific in the passing lanes at the defensive end, can get out in transition and score in the open floor and has a repeatable outside shooting stroke with good form and balance. Meyer showed good range, able to shoot beyond the arc, as well as the ability to knock down shots out of the corner.
Parker Stone, 6’1, G, 2021, Perry-Lecompton
Stone is coming off a strong offseason running with the Kansas Cagers where he was a solid and consistent lead guard, showing the ability to lead a team at the point, handle the ball and create scoring opportunities for himself and others. With Perry-Lecompton suffering several key losses to graduation, look for Stone to put together a breakout junior season.
Isaac Webb, 6’1, G, 2020, Riverside
Webb is coming off a strong season in 2018-19 for Riverside as he led the Cyclones with 12.3 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.2 assists and shot 48 percent from beyond the 3-point arc. An athletic guard, Webb is capable of putting the ball on the floor and attacking the basket and can twist and turn his body and finish tough chances in the lane around opposing defenders. Riverside is coming off a tough season a year ago and will be looking for Webb to put together a breakout senior season.
